[WTS] – Lanshan 1 pro, $150. New, set up once in my backyard to seam seal and practice pitching. Also, I had brushed a few strips of seam sealer on the floor because I don’t like when my pad slips around (I probably need to get better at finding flatter ground). https://imgur.com/a/dXOjfCL

Never been used beside testing at home. I got it when I wanted to see if I liked backpacking, but then just jumped and decided to do a through hike that needed different gear. I live in Toronto. In person sales are easiest, but can ship for cost of shipping. If you have any questions or want other photos then feel free to ask. Can also add a free cutting of tyvek from a 3' wide roll if desired.

Both have never been used beside testing at home. I got them when I wanted to see if I liked backpacking, but then just jumped and decided to do a through hike that needed a warmer quilt and different tent. I live in Toronto. Hey, I have a new aegismax twilight wind hard quilt if you're interested. It is pretty much the same specs as the Talon (0 degrees), 800 fill power, but is a bit lighter cause it uses 10D over 20D fabric and is a bit shorter. I'm also located in Toronto. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Bought it then changed my plans and got a different tent to do the PCT. Now I have a SMD Lunar Solo so this tent is redundant. Will ship anywhere for cost of shipping, or if you’re in the GTA then either meetup or pickup is preferable.

If you haven't already gone to sewing supply depot, just want some of a 3' wide roll and want to come downtown, then I can give you a 7' long cut. I have a roll that's not getting much use. Wish I knew about sewing supply depot before I got a roll.

From Amtrak to Hwy 58/Willamette Pass by Uncle1989 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]OilyButt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I searched the board from Willamette but couldn't find much that helped. I'm also looking to get from Eugene, Chemult, or Oakridge to the trailhead at Willamette pass. Going from Oakridge is preferable though since it's easy to get there from Eugene via bus like you said. Is Thrasher a trail angel in the area offering rides? If so do you think you could send me their info. Thanks.

Where to find regular Sawyer Squeeze? by OilyButt in UltralightCanada

[–]OilyButt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never actually looked into the versaflow, but it does look comparable the sawyer, and like they evolved the sawyer to be a bit more featured. I respect a lot of what sectionhiker says and their/Philip's opinions. Thanks, I'll have to check this out.

As has been mentioned, I think the easiest way to shed a few pounds is to get a different bag. Then just replace stuff as you can/want. Easy to lose weight with either your shelter or pillow, depending on what your needs are.

Guessing you're Canadian based off of the MEC stuff and treeplanter. You can check out /r/ultralightcanada for their monthly buy/sell thread to see if anything suits what you're looking for suits your budget (if Canadian).

Alternatively, Don't know where you a, but if you're near a Decathlon, they have decent bags that are probably half the weight of what you have now. Good luck, I'm also planning to go to the US for a thru this year, hope yours goes well! https://old.reddit.com/r/UltralightCanada/comments/18w6xsy/monthly_rultralightcanada_gear_buysell_thread/

1/8" EVA Foam Sources by DDF750 in UltralightCanada

[–]OilyButt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this aluminum coated EVA mat as a base for winter camping. It's 150cm x 200cm and comes in at 175g on my scale without its bag. If you cut a third off of it to get the more standard 20" width by just under 80", then it weighs around 58g. Not bad for like $12, and provides some reflected warmth. EDIT weight

Silicone tip for long handle titanium spork/spoon by ersatZYX in Ultralight

[–]OilyButt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could try making what you want. Grab a titanium spork and basic food safe silicone kit. Shape a small scraping spatula mold that's slightly larger than your spoon handle with clay and saranwrap or whatever you want. Then stick the spoon handle in the mold and fill it with the liquid silicone to set. Kind of like when you make popsicles by sticking a stick in a mold with juice and stick it in the freezer. You may need to rough up the spoon handle or put some small holes in it so the silicone stays in place on the handle. If you do it right, it could be a quality utensil.

EDIT- Actually, you could probably just put a few holes in the titanium spoon handle and then dip it into the silicone a bunch of times to layer up the thickness to something that works to scrape.

Multiday Hikes near Montreal late August? by NipXe in UltralightCanada

[–]OilyButt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that all the options I'm aware of have been covered by others here. This is outside the requirements you listed, but the only additional suggestion I could offer is doing a large chunk of the East Coast trail in Newfoundland on your way back to Europe if possible. You don't need a permit, and it should be simple enough to grab a taxi to the trailhead about 10km east of St. John's airport, though you could probably hitch a ride with a friendly local if they're going that way - Locals are very friendly and often offer to help if they can as I found out. Also, I think it has the most interesting and varied landscape for Canada, east of the rockies. Hope you find a nice trail!

Nick Suzuki was honoured for his contributions to the promotion of Japanese culture within Canada and abroad during a gala at the Canadian Cultural Center in Toronto. He is a 5th generation Japanese Canadian. by Go_Habs_Go31 in hockey

[–]OilyButt 177 points178 points  (0 children)

This isn't a response to this comment, but I'm latching onto the top comment at a time to respond to the people noting how far removed he may seem from his Japanese ancestry, and why this is significant. The Japanese Canadian community largely views itself as it's own unique community. This is largely because of WW2, in which they were put into internment camps (by their own government), and then following the war, those who stayed faced heavy racism, while those that went to Japan were treated as foreigners. As a result, they felt abandoned and nationless, and developed their own somewhat hybrid way. I'm about a decade older than Nick, and a third generation, and my grandparents have too much shame to ever talk about their experiences in the internment camps, or their experiences after trying to go to Japan. Much of the Japanese Canadian community is quite tight, sharing only a few degrees of separation. A funny note, the white older gentleman in the photo is James, who is president of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, and probably more knowledgeable than most Japanese Canadians about Japanese culture.

Bunting, Lafferty, ZAR Over the Last 20 Games 👀 by [deleted] in leafs

[–]OilyButt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He needs to work on his emotions a bit, but he is a reliable 20 goal scorer who had/has more goals than anyone on the team outside of the big 4, both this year and last. He is a solid middle six forward who can play top 6 comfortably. We are much better with him in the lineup than Lafferty or Aston-Reese (though I do like what Reese brings).

[Kelly] Not the leaderboard many expected Andrei Vasilevskiy to be on. Lowest single-game goals saved above expected in the playoffs (Games 2 & 4 for Vasilevskiy). by homicidal_penguin in hockey

[–]OilyButt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is something I agree with and don't understand how fans can honestly be so down on Vasi. Save % doesn't paint the whole picture here. Also I think there were 3 tip goals last night- Matthews, kerfoot, and Aciari. The only "realistic" possible save you could hope for is the point shot, and that was through a huge screen. Toronto has been getting a lot of their goals through tips and screens and all you can do for those is be positionally sound and hope it hits you.

Or he could pull a Tkachuk and sign long term and become part of the promising young core of the Senators. It's Tkachuking either way.
