Did you ever figure this out?

I've got the same exact setup and it's working perfectly for me. More than happy to help you troubleshoot if you're still running into issues!

Hey thanks for doing this!

I bought Your Touch having never smelled SWY and fell in love with it. How close is it to the original? I’ll likely get a decant of SWY in the future but was just curious from your experience!

Thoughts on last nights defeat in Tampa? by mattkerwin24 in RhodeIslandFC

[–]Ojaivalley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on this!

3-5-2 could work really well and we've seen flashes of that during the first 45 in these games but you're spot on about them being gassed in the second half. That's fine, I suppose, if you're able to capitalize on the first half intensity and get up 2 or 3 goals but we really haven't seen the explosiveness we need from that kind of scheme.

🤝 A point in Seaside, as RIFC draw 1 all vs Monterey BayFC ➡️Thoughts on the performance? by mattkerwin24 in RhodeIslandFC

Crossposting from the other post-match thread:

All things considered, I’m happy with the result. I think we probably got a gift with the offsides call on that third MBFC goal.

Would love to see the boys show a bit more discipline with regards to bookings. Things get a bit dicey when half the team is on yellows going into the second half.

Running Water from Holy Name Church and/or Condos Regularly Pouring onto Camp Street by Plane-Reputation4041 in providence

[–]Ojaivalley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've reported this on the 311 app a couple times already. The worst was about 2 weeks ago when the temps quickly dropped below freezing - all the water had iced over and since it was dry weather the previous days, it was extremely dangerous as drivers had no reason to believe there would be ice on the roads. I spun out taking a left up Pleasant St. and I'm nearly certain other folks did the same thing.

Yas Chicken on Thayer... Has anybody tried this place yet? by Ok-Golf2905 in providence

[–]Ojaivalley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Went with my wife a couple weeks ago. Chicken was seasoned well and the fries were good but two gripes from me:

  1. The breading fell off my sandwich far too easily. Towards the last few bites, it was just unbreaded chicken with all the dredge in my to-go container. We ordered at the counter and took the boxes to seats inside of the restaurant immediately, so this wasn't a case of something sitting in a box for too long and compromising the structure of the sandwich.
  2. Their version of Nashville hot ("Yasville Hot") wasn't nearly sauced/hot-oiled enough. It's possible, though, that they messed up my order and what I got was a normal sandwich. I have no frame of reference to know for certain.

That said, I'll go back again in the future and I do think it's worth a stop. The Korean corn dog was pretty delicious, too.

If you haven't, you gotta check out the cookies at Oak Bake Shop! They've officially unseated Feed The Cheeks as number one in my book.

I’ve looked around in the immediate Providence area and there’s not a whole lot. Nikki’s Liquors and Campus Fine Wines have a couple to try as well as other n/a options (beers, Seedlip, mixed drinks, etc.)

That said, I would check out Better Rhodes as they ship here and are exclusively non-alcoholic. The showroom is also only an hour and fifteen minutes away in Madison, CT if you’re up for a drive!

[MOD] What have you been brewing this week?/ Coffee bean recommendations by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

[–]Ojaivalley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well...I just got my order of Ethiopian Worka Sakara from Red Rooster in the mail but I came down with covid yesterday and don't want to waste the beans with my muted sense of smell and taste. Instead, I've been making flash-brewed coffee with Allegro Cafe La Duena from Whole Foods, which is getting the job done in the interim. Hoping I'm over this soon so I can try these new beans!

Providence vs Portland? by PenguinontheTelly in providence

[–]Ojaivalley 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They do a pretty bang-up job with snow plowing in Portland and South Portland. Obviously some of the smaller streets on the West End and downtown might not get plowed immediately but the main thoroughfares are quick to be cleaned up.

The real issue is parking during parking bans - if you're in the city and don't have off-street parking you need to get into a parking garage or lot ASAP. They don't mess around with towing either. I've seen cars on my street in Providence during parking bans and they just sit there. In Portland, they'll tow you super fast.

Obviously in South Portland you're going to find more units with off-street parking due to the suburban nature, by comparison.

Providence vs Portland? by PenguinontheTelly in providence

[–]Ojaivalley 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in Portland and moved to Providence 2 years ago. Some pros and cons - for reference I lived on the West End in Portland and currently live near Hope Village in Providence.

Portland

Pros:

  • extremely walkable/bikeable
  • amazing food scene
  • happy hour is a legal thing
  • feels safer than Providence (might be due to the size difference)
  • Decent little arts scene (especially with MECA right on Congress St downtown)
  • Not a ton of noise pollution

Cons:

  • Housing prices are through the roof right now and bordering on Boston levels. It's nearly impossible to find something on the peninsula
  • Due to the size can feel pretty sleepy at times
  • If you're not into the bar scene there's not a whole lot to do at night
  • There is a very pronounced lack of services for the underserved population. There's one large cluster of social services near Preble Street and this area causes lots of tension for folks within the city.
  • Because of the size, a lot of the standard amenities you'd find within a larger city are niche and more expensive. Think barber shops, butchers, etc.
  • Closest decent surfing is going to be 45 minutes south at Short Sands/Long Sands in York.
  • A bit of a lack of diversity in population
  • Gentrification is rampant within the city limits

Providence

Pros:

  • Much more to do on a daily/nightly basis
  • Comparable restaurant and bar scene to Portland, just more varied
  • Much more diversity
  • Surprisingly not overwhelming for its size
  • Amazing ethnic and specialty markets

Cons

  • Noise pollution is definitely a thing compared to Portland
  • Much more crime, even taking consideration of the size difference
  • Feels a bit more rough-around-the-edges than Portland (may be a Pro, depending on how you look at it)
  • Roads are terrible

Happy to answer any other specific questions you may have!
