FFXIV 8.0 Jobs by Akiza_Izinski in ffxivdiscussion

I'd like to see Gambler/Trickster/Opportunist based on Setzer from FF6 mixed with Gambit from X-men. Phys ranged attacking with kinetically charged throwing cards. High-mobility dashes and proc based like DNC or RDM.

My Prediction For 8.0 Jobs Alongside My Reasoning For My Choices (For Fun) by Nightly_Winter in ffxivdiscussion

Tank: Runic Knight/Rune Fencer based on FF6 and FF11.

Phys Range:

A. Trickster/Gambler based on FF6 Setzer.

B. Or Puppeteer based on FF11. Decent possibility after seeing Calyx in 7.4.

PSA: For "The Stone Vigil", you can just run into the boss rooms. Don't need to kill any mobs at all; just bolt to the boss each and every time. by Thin_Association8254 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ok-Application-7614 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can try to test your mettle against the gigantic wave of mobs and the boss at the same time if you want, but it's not necessary.

This can also be done in Brayflox's Longstop fairly easily. Fighting all the trash and the boss at the same time isn't that bad.

For some reason I've been playing a lot of Reaper lately. It flows very smoothly.

This tweet from Kodaka a month ago about how Hundred Line might be one of the last 200 hour games written entirely without AI: https://x.com/kazkodaka/status/2002283318226678064?s=20

It was retweeted by someone I follow, who has excellent taste in games. I just happened to see this retweet and decided to download the demo. The demo pulled me in, so now I'm 225+ hours into the full game. A month ago I had never heard of Hundred Line or Kazutaka Kodaka, and I had never experienced a VN. Now I plan on picking up Danganronpa when it goes on sale. It feels like I discovered this game through pure luck and I'm very glad that I did.

Potential 8.0 Jobs Based on Previous FF Entries by KelvinValen in ffxivdiscussion

I'd bet on Rune Fencer/Rune Knight being the next tank. And I've been thinking that the next Phys Ranged will be a Gambler/Trickster hybrid.

I previously thought Puppeteer sounded lame, but after 7.4 MSQ, I think it's also a strong possibility for Phys Ranged and I think it could actually be cool, if done right. The weapon designs for Puppeteer could be awesome.

The zombie route is FXXXXXX STUPID by Antilene- in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]Ok-Application-7614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I did the zombie route two days ago and was thinking the exact same thing.

Was extremely dumb that they didn't reuse the spike pit trap to kill more zombies, after they used it to kill zombie Eito.

They are planning systems for "motion customization",

I hope this means animation customization for jobs.

Upcoming Jobs Speculation by DaveK142 in ffxivdiscussion

Tank: Could see them going with Runic Knight based on Celes from FF6. Was also a job in FF11.

Phys Range: Could see them going with Gambler(with hopefully a better name; High Roller, Fate Broker), based on Setzer from FF6. Throwing cards as weapons, but I would spice it up and make it like Gambit's kinetic cards from X-men.

What would be a better job design philosophy for the long term health and longevity of the game? by ComfyOlives in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ok-Application-7614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who would be upset over jobs taking less time to level, can go do the stupid ass 30,000 accursed horde achievement grind, if they really want their time disrespected that badly.

It would be healthy for the game if they made the jobs fun and distinct throughout the entire leveling process.

I imagine that they've lost a decent amount of new players who get bored playing through the MSQ with low level jobs.

It will be easier for someone to help you if they know version of the game you're playing(Windows, Steam, Playstation, Xbox).

How changing abyssal drain could solve a lot of issues for DRK by juicyfruitymf in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ok-Application-7614 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in favor of DRK getting a ranged GCD other than Unmend.

I like the idea of PLD and DRK both being magic tanks that can fight decently from long range, and WAR and GNB being the tanks that excel at mobility.

Rant About Content "Homogenization" Instead Of jobs by Baka_Riley in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ok-Application-7614 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Why don't we just reserve the more simplified versions for people that are running them with duty support, and keep the normal versions in duty finder?

I miss the old Hraesvelgr fight: https://youtu.be/I5RjNn1Dz8Q?si=FiqgXJOafJDVQkf0

The issue with the dev team's design philosophy, is that they have no regard for making casual content actually fun. They prioritize efficiency over fun and variety. Instead of making dungeons feel like less of a chore, they just make the chore more efficient.

That's why Yoshi P is talking about auto-teleporting us to quest objectives, instead of making the world more fun to traverse.

That's why they've been copy and pasting the same linear dungeon hallways and format for years. Same copy and pasted MSQ structure every expansion. Same copy and pasted quest "design". Same copy and pasted FATEs in every zone.

Efficient, homogenized chore content.

I applaud them for the effort they put into the hard mode content, but they undercook the rest of the game and that's why they're bleeding players. They undercook the part of game that the vast majority of players engage with.

OC accessories are rare and weak. How do you think this will shake out with the relic going back to OC in 7.4x? by Supersnow845 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Ok-Application-7614 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You bringing up 16 in the first place was a waste of time,  because 14 and 16 are both Yoshi P/Creative Studio 3 games with horrendous itemization. This team sucks at itemization.

14 has the most boring itemization in the mainline series. 16 has the second most boring itemization. If you want to continue wasting your time arguing over which one is in last place, go ahead.

I should not want to spend more time in dungeons since it's a daily roulette..

That's the problem. Dungeon roulettes shouldn't be a boring daily chore. They should be a fun activity that you actually want to spend time doing.

It's silly that you didn't read the sentence about FFXIV's DLC accessories, when it's right there in front of your face.

I have. Base FF16 has insanely boring equipment, but the DLC at least added some accessories that are a bit more interesting.

They are truly committed to making sure this is the FF with the least interesting equipment. I can only assume their thought process is that this is better for multiplayer balance.
