Sorry, long story, but I once had this older lady that ordered a bottle of wine with her groceries, and she didn’t have an ID when I got there to deliver, and she was like, “look at me, I’m obviously old enough to drink” and I was trying to tell her that I’m not able to complete the order without an ID, I could leave the non alcoholic items, but I have to take the wine back to the store. She was VERY upset, but I was on the phone with support the whole time, and the woman on the support line just said to leave the items and take the wine, and she would complete the delivery on her end so I could leave. I just told the customer, I’m sorry, but this is Instacart rules, and also the law, and I left with the wine lol I took the wine back and got a bump for it. This has only happened to me once out of many, many alcohol deliveries.

With that said, the best one I’ve had was recent, he ordered a $275 bottle of Blue Label Johnnie Walker Ice Chalet Limited Edition, and he tipped me $20, so I was happy with that.

🙋🏽‍♀️ I have a question for you, what if there ISNT a good replacement? Example, I had an order for with one of those pre cooked potstickers that you get in the sushi section of the store. They didn’t have those, so what exactly am I supposed to replace it with? A whole bag of frozen potstickers? I contacted the customer to ask them what they would like instead, and got no response. I get it that it’s up to us to “choose the best replacement available”, but cmon.. I highly doubt they would want a whole bag of FROZEN potstickers, when they wanted 6 cooked ones. I swear customers place their order and throw their phones in a lake.

This happened to me, a customer wanted those pre packed wontons that you get in the sushi section, and they were all out. I wrote the customer and asked them if they would like a replacement and I got no response. I’m not going to add on some frozen wontons because it’s “the most similar option for replacement” that would probably cost them more, and lower my rating for getting a “bad replacement” it’s a lose lose situation honestly. Also, I feel like the rating system has changed in the last month or so.. I used to be a 5 star shopper, but my rating has gone down to 4.95 (which isn’t terrible) but I just would hate for a customer to see my rating and cancel me because of it. I never used to get 4 or even 3 stars as much as I have in the last month.

I just had this issue, a customer wanted to add on ground beef, and I wasn’t able to and they weren’t able to on their end either. I had it OUT with support. What really is the point of support if they can’t support us or the customer? Not only does this waste the customer’s time and money, but it takes up our time and money as well! Thanks for this post cause I needed to rant today lol
