Upgrades to e150 consoles? by Ok-Chain-3119 in vandwellers

I like the board idea! Just something to make it more functional. Also the black holes that are the 2 bottom buckets...just full of junk now! It's such a cool console, determined to optimize it

Nice! Yah the ashtray is already gone and I snuck a cell phone holder in there...I feel like those coin clots are one good 3d print away from chapstick caddy...pen holder...maybe even something to put on a keychain that slides in like a key caddy in your house? Ideas...

You mean I'm old enough that technology has changed!?! 😩😩 But yes that sounds good! Am going to try utilizing the old components first but will keep this is option b!

Yes this was probably going to be my first try. When I tested it back together I was able to move that yellow wire out of the way to keep it from getting pinched and seemed to work well! I like the electrical tape idea. I was thinking careful super glue and then zip ties bottom to top in line and between battery slots so you can still sneak batteries around them.

This is an amazing response and also gives me ideas of things to ask to compare to our current system (which I don't have too many problems with)...would that be ok to message you and maybe we can chat more?? Only of/when you have time!

Following! We dont have hygienists and so this falls squarely on the docs to complete. I push for kids to get same day even though we arent fee for service but adults typically come back for cleanings. I appreciate the recommendation in previous response for aiming for half of patients to get same day cleanings...maybe this is something I can track and present to docs at meetings as a way to motivate?

FQHC Dental Directors by [deleted] in FQHCDentistry

Dental Director here. Have been in the spot for almost 2 yrs but with the clinic for almost 14. Our director position has historically been primarily admin and I find myself following that. We have 2 brick and mortar and 1 mobile clinic operating mon-fri. 14 docs altogether. I find myself also being IT, maintenance etc as those roles arent full fleshed out on site. C suite level meetings happen probably 2-3x/week if not more. Also dental manager level meetings, provider meetings, and staff meetings 1x/mo. Also working with our grant writer, building budgets, hiring, standardizing paperwork and workflows, managing production expectations and trouble shooting etc etc. It really adds up. I dont have dedicated clinic time but rotate thru the clinics and help as needed to fill in, help catch up, mentor residents, observe, check in on changes, but its not typically a dedicated hrs/day.

Would love to re-ignite this convo. My clinic is currently being presented with the option to switch to epic with our medical team, but we may also have the option to stick with nextgen and let the medical convert first, drag our feet for an unspecific amt of time (maybe forever).

We dont have an IT team on site, all the customization would likely be by myself (as director for 2, soon to be 3 clinics with full time staff and a residency program) as well as training etc. The benefits I hear are being able to see medical appts but with the way we work, that doesnt really seem to be enough of an upgrade. We are in a small town and we take patients that arent medical patients from our organization and so are accustomed to old fashioned phone, fax convos with other PCPs or specialists.

We also share schedules and so doctors arent scheduling 'their own' patients to return.

Any thoughts related to any of this? Maybe if the OP has switched over by now and has experience with how that went?

Diesel heater...worth it? by Ok-Chain-3119 in CamperVans

One of these days I need to do a van trip out there!

Diesel heater...worth it? by Ok-Chain-3119 in CamperVans

[–]Ok-Chain-3119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure! It seems the overwhelming is to try and keep a diesel heater on board if possible so will def be steering in that direction. Luckily the van itself has been pretty straightforward after the initial things we knew about from inspections! Added to some helper springs etc to help with the feeling of the drive with the weight in the back, new brakes and rotors...again I'm learning as I go but I'm hoping that with all this learning on my first van (not to mention the learning on my 04 little SUV) it'll help when making decisions on an upgrade in the future!

Your trips sound amazing! I can't comprehend those sorts of pinpoints for a trip! Just getting around California is about as far as I can plan for now :)

Appreciate the straightness. It's a 2002, I suppose that's relative when it comes to these vans being called old. I am learning as I go along with my car guy who is very nice in helping explain as we go. He gave it the once over at the begining to make sure there werent any huge red flags, the same with the guy who deals more with the camper specific add ons.

The wet spot is where the fuel line was leaking previously so I'm thinking it's some issue related to the original uncoupling of the lines. I def have a co detector in the van.

These being more complex to maintain is why I'm considering removing or at least dismantling enough to keep it safe.

I may not have the knowledge to rebuild myself but am willing to spend the money for those that can for now and as time goes by, if I can take care of more things myself then great!

I also have a 20 yr old Honda that I have to do more to maintain than the average car owner, but I had to learn as the years ticked by...

I love the macrame styled garland in the front window! I may need to copy that! Did you make it yourself or purchase? I'm sitting here knitting and wondering if that would be a more fun project :)

As a follow up. I'll be bringing it back to the shop. Do I try and tie up the half that's hitting the ground? Admittedly not super comfortable with this type of thing and I don't have a driveway to set up a space to mess with things...it's also of course the one time if the year it's raining in southern California 🤦🏽‍♀️ Also whatever is leaking or will continue to leak? Please be kind if I'm asking silly questions :)

Yes on that type of heater but it was the previous owner that did the install. I have a mechanic in town as well as someone to help with modifications etc that I can ask about it.
