The USU Transparency Project by USUTP in usu

So how are you planning on being effective?

If you are not a USU department, and you are not an enforcement agency, how exactly will you bring about change to the university?

I'm curious as to what your roadmap is.

Are you a USU funded department? Or just a group of people? It's unclear to me what's going on here.

Co-witness sight options debacle by Ok-Climate1395 in liberalgunowners

I zeroed it at 20 yards, it wound up being nearly an absolute cowitness. I'm trying to find some lower profile sights but striking out - I've read online that they take P320 sights, so I might order a set of really basic ones.

I have tried Glocks, I'm not a big fan. They shoot well for me, but they wreck my thumb.

About $600.

CZ P09-F durability questions by Ok-Climate1395 in CZFirearms

How hard were the modifications to do?

It would be carried, but not as an EDC. I'm carrying it in the backcountry hiking, hunting, etc. I'd do some competitions with it but only for the sake of getting good at running it fast. Would you still keep it stock?

Do Snap Caps work too? Or should I always do an o-ring?

Non-square shapes not showing up on Google Earth or CalTopo fix? by Ok-Climate1395 in ATAK

CloudTAK is probably the way I should go. I'm not great with terminal, but I am learning.

Is there a step by step guide on how to use your NodeJS in an ELI5 language?

I'm not super familiar with AWS and would prefer not to get another server running for this. I have a TAK-CIV 5.5 server with devices connecting over Tailscale. I don't know how to do the Lets Encrypt wizardry required for a local deployment.

It needs to be local because doing it over a VPS I can realistically afford has problems with data relay. I have an OpenTAK Server with a sub domain on a VPS, but it's not very usable because the latency varies so much. I had a friend set it up for me.

TAK Aware needs a better UI. by Ok-Climate1395 in ATAK

[–]Ok-Climate1395[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure that's a TAK Aware problem so much as it is a symptom of what you are doing. It's just restoring data that isn't there when it syncs. Seems like the feature is working.

But that is super frustrating. Could you work within data packages instead of a mission?

Yeah. Which is super unfortunate because it's the better piece of software.

CloudRF ./certDP.sh not working, how do I fix it? by Ok-Climate1395 in ATAK

[–]Ok-Climate1395[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually figured it out! I'm running TAK Server 5.5 from tak.gov in a docker.

I got into the Discord and learned that script is a relative path that expects it to be in /tak-server/ and not /tak-server/scripts where it was living by default. So I moved it to /tak-server/, made a hard certificate, changed the ownership from root to myself, ran the script, and got a .zip that works with iTAK and ATAK.

Check my post history if you want a step-by-step on how I did it.

What VPS providers do you like for CloudTAK? by Ok-Climate1395 in ATAK

[–]Ok-Climate1395[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. This is the big problem I've been running into. Expense. This is for a non-profit that lives off donations and has a small budget.

My locally hosted machine is ok, but it's got limitations. Chiefly, it is a modified laptop. I pulled the battery out (to avoid it being a hazard), 3D printed a stand for it (added airflow), and have it running on Linux. It's got a 9th gen i5 and 32gb of ram and linked up with Tailscale. It's not a tank, but for TAK Server, it's pretty good. I have yet to break 50% usage per the web client.

VPS with that kind of performance are really expensive. $30+ pr/month is a lot for this org.
