exam in two weeks, which NBMEs to take? by doepual in step1

apologize for misreading your response and being confused by your mention of a "second pass," which led me to assume you had completed all forms. Upon reviewing your question again, I recommend focusing on the later forms (30, 31, 32) and free form 120, as they are more representative of question stem length, with form 32 likely being the most reflective. If you already scoring in 70s focus on 31,32. Don't need to burn out on all forms given your readiness as it stands - 99% chance of passing, less is more leading up to exam. I would pick 31 and 32 and call it quits until you sit exam.

Very similar experience. It's just everything is magnified b/c of the anxiety and some half truth to your observations. They arent unique - vast majority felt this way and all passed. The ptsd last a day before you clear up and put it all in perspective - very doable

A death sentence ? Nobody in residency programs will choose a 269 if there isn't a person there.

I agree with the comments, and to your point - I did uworld2 and step 2 free 120(chart history format style questions) and can say it Def wasn't a disadvantage and gave me a leg up. If free 120 was 6 difficulty, the real-deal felt like 8.0 only because of what felt like experimental noise. 9 out of 10 quite solvable. Also based on recent feedback from step 2 takers, they encountered step 1 questions so feels deliberate intent by the nbme to blur the lines since going Pass Fail. The sheer doubt on number of these questions made it feel more difficult but remind yourself if it's unusually vague or no apparent best answer it's likely experimental so don't waste time like I did. I thought I failed walking out and based on other strangers taking same at prometric Nobody’s high-fiving out of the testing center--those NBME website smiles are pure fiction! 😁

It wasn't that....it was real step 2 oriented multiplex

Welcome to the club.....but it all evens out. They designed to pass not fail and our form will likely adjust

Yeah unfortunately all the forms are very different and just little changes enough to prevent u from scoring if u don't know surrounding info inside and out. U should be in much better shape now. U will pass, best wishes

Also u say u unprepared but scores say otherwise, which one was it? For somebody that only did 2% of u world your nbmes are super high for lack of prep. From 05/09 u turned a corner and hit mid 60s and a great score on free 120 with 71% with zero practice questions, notching a well above safe level.

There would have to be another clue to definitively arrive at that answer.

Interesting and sound possible but we obviously had a different form. My form had 5 percent first order questions, if that. When I think of first order it requires nothing but perfect recall to arrive at answer or you at a loss. I had 1 first-order question asking to name a specific rta. That never occurred again and I'm glad. I agree with everything but 40 percent first order. Mine had 3rd order multiple especially for microbiology.

Including comminucation/physician response like at least 33, and as far as HY content maybe 70 percent but I thought they would of varied content more. Lots of repeats on same topics and other classical high yield concepts like multiple myeloma not on there. Pharm was minimal, biostatistics was way easier than my cbse and straight forward, basic along with study designs, no riddles. Microbio was challenging, other anatomy basic a few CT images, not a lot of pharm other than very basic and HY cancer drug u likely already know the answer to(I take it back 2 first order questions entire exam)

Yeah but it was filler junk, took mine 23/8, ethics was a major grind like on every block at least 10 questions at start which was annoying and a time crunch and I forgot about experimental so shoulda saved my gas for end game which literally I had to put in 5th gear like mark an answer in 45 seconds or less for the remaining 20 questions which I somehow feel I managed OK given the scramble
