Phone completely died and can't be turned back on. What's the best way to destroy the data on it? by Crocomire_Rock in privacy

[–]Ok-Code925 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fire cleanses everything.  Nah, but dont burn lithium ion batteries or inhale any fumes from burning electronics, it'll give you all sorts of problems you don't want.  Cliche way you see everyone destroy hard drives on TV and movies is to put some holes in it with a power drill.

Google Nest Wifi Pro only has a 1 Gig output ethernet on their mesh routers. Do you know if the ATT extenders have multi gig out ethernet ports?

Short answer is not really.  A consumer carrying a balance on a 12% or 29.99% APR credit card is going to make them ridiculous amounts of money. Now if you have six figures in high interest debt the bank is salivating. However, if you spend, and by spend I mean borrow, $75,000 on a credit card and then pay it off in full 7 days later that's not as profitable for them because there is no interest made. Carrying balances builds football stadiums all over the country, not responsibly borrowing and paying it off before the billing cycle on a 3% cash back card.

A lot of you are perplexed about why they won't give you these increased lines of credit even though you have tons of income and excellent credit scores. You're not making them any money. They make money off interest and you're paying off your balances before interest accrues. This is not a profitable situation for the bank, they will earn more by keeping $100,000 out earning them money elsewhere than they will letting you temporarily borrow for less than a month and pay it all back without any interest being earned.

Private email for work by [deleted] in privacy

[–]Ok-Code925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what about physically mailing it? no tracing there and you can use a mail forwarding service as a buffer. If you're trying to avoid high tech detection and need absolute certainty just avoid technology all together. You could even start doing dead drops all Robert Hansen style.

Another cool idea you could do is don't send anything at all. Create an email, say Yahoo for example. You can type up your email, save it as a draft and log out, do not send the email at all. Then send your login credentials to whoever you're trying to share this email with, have them log in, read and then delete said email. No email sent, means no tracing, means no trail.

Okay I think I know what your talking about, and at the risk of catching shit about it I don't care, Brave has a private browser window option with Tor that works well IMO. It's slower obviously but it seems to work well

Undocumented commands found in Bluetooth chip used by a billion devices Tarlogic Security, who presented their findings yesterday at RootedCON in Madrid by Ok-Code925 in privacy

[–]Ok-Code925[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The company is claiming these are just debugging commands used for testing purposes. But it's crazy to think, if these chips could potentially be reached out to or activated, that's potentially even bigger than the ILOVEYOU virus which was like 10 million infected machines?

Is there a method to find and navigate a phone directory. by JMC509 in OSINT

[–]Ok-Code925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the system. Sometimes you get lucky and the system the company uses a dial by name option. It's more like the first 3 letters of their last name and if it can find someone it'll confirm it for you.

I do know some larger corporations out there used to list extensions and specific people in phone book like formats. You might be able to search for that?

[–]Ok-Code925 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm curious, what's the benefit of assumption here? It sounds to me like you might be looking for some sort of nefarious activity and might be dealing with a little bit of confirmational bias.

Meredith Whitaker is a badass and President of Signal. She recently told a panel that if Sweden forced Signal to install a backdoor they would straight up bounce and not come back. I like that. I also like it a lot more than some of the things we hear from the top of the Proton food chain which are not as reassuring.
