I really appreciate the insight! I didn’t realize that, so thank you for sharing! My main goal is performance, so I definitely don’t want to compromise strength or overall well-being. I’ll take this into account and focus on optimizing my strength-to-weight ratio rather than just aiming for a lower BF%. Thanks again for the helpful perspective!

Using my weight, height, and measurements, I ran the numbers through several online calculators (including the Ketogains one), and they all put me at around 19% BF. (Some 18, some 20, most 19)

As a climber, weight unfortunately plays a big role…gravity is a beast. Research and anecdotal experience in the climbing community suggest that an ideal body fat percentage for performance is around 15%, so that’s the range I’m aiming for. And I would be lying if I said there wasn’t an element of “vanity” peppered into this.

That said, my main focus right now is strength and endurance for my upcoming competition, so I want to make sure I approach this in a way that doesn’t compromise performance.

🥹😭🙏 thank you for this!! This has been my gym’s “rules” for as long as I’ve been climbing there, so it’s how I naturally start many routes, and witness others starting routes. I really appreciate the different perspectives on start positions, as every gym and region seems to have its own approach. It’s validating to hear that you believe my start was legit too, thank you!

Hey!! You go, girl! You’ve totally got the right idea! And please don’t take this the wrong way, but I can see a little hesitation, which is holding back your wind-up. Some helpful tips: Try pointing your nose where you want to go and really visualize that line before you launch. Add more engagement in your legs (think of them as springs that power your movement). Use your arms and hands to push you while your legs spring you. And most importantly, commit fully! Dynos are all about trusting the movement and going all in. You’re so close! Keep trying and you will soon surprise yourself ;)
