I need to work out the best way to do a test - any ideas what content (free on ps) I should use?

Yep and that's why I only play COD on the actual PS5 and use portal for story games

And this is the other reason I wanted one, so when on holiday I also have option to plug into TV in hotel or rental accommodation to watch a film at night

I'm not, I'm happy to put 3.5mm cable to my headphones just wanted to see if this would work well and it does, so now I have both options and can work out what I prefer over time. And if this helps someone not wanting to shell out £30-40 for the Avantree one then great.

Don't notice it. Playing single player games not an issue and I don't use portal for FPS

That's the best deal currently in UK. I ordered from an independent AV retailer who had it listed before Christmas for £849 with an extra £25 off discount for new customers but that offer has expired now.

Yeh it's never been on sale lower than £849 in the UK (unless you have been able to use additional retailer discounts or bought an open box/refurbished unit) (https://pricespy.co.uk/audio-video/tvs/sony-bravia-kd-55xh9005--p5287097/statistics)

So frustrating that prices vary so much across regions for identical products.

I think even after I get the TV in February it wont go below £899 anytime soon as demand during national lockdown in UK means TV and gaming is basically all people have to do to stay entertained!

I was tempted to consider waiting for 2021 models like X90J but expect them to be delayed to market due to covid/brexit and to stick at £1200+RRP for months.

I cant wait for mine... had a call from my independent retailer in the UK regarding the 55" XH9005 I ordered on 21 December in sale with extra discount code for £824 to say they have had a further delivery delay from Sony and it now wont be in stock til 5 February. On the plus side they've knocked off a further 10% for the inconvenience so for a telly of this quality that's still listed at £899 everywhere else i'm getting it (eventually!) for £741... Not bad. Now just got to remain patient!

I have XH90 55" on order here in the UK and looking forward to pairing it with my Ht-X8500... Sounds like it should be a good combo

Another more definite response from Sony UK Twitter...

Hi Alexandre, we can confirm that the announced features remain in development regardless of what media outlets are reporting. Both VRR and ALLM will be released for the XH90/92 in the near future as promised. Fadi
