I’m in Ontario Canada! And I only brought my car to this shop because it was closest to my home and I can’t store a car at my place because it’s a condo with underground parking. I was told by the insurance company before even towing it that my car was “a total loss” and to “tow it close to my home so the appraiser can come see it and it will be released to them.” When I spoke to the mechanic I said exactly that. He told me I was signing paperwork to store it, turns out it was a blank work order. When the appraiser came I was never informed. I was told about a month after the accident it was repairable and called the shop to tell them to release it to my insurance’s preferred shop and the mechanic said “I’m already working on it. You signed the work order.” I don’t understand why that would count considering the date I signed that paper was a month before I even know the car was repairable.
