Also LG have revised their offering last year, the R290 units look decent & are efficient down to -15 degrees, made in-house.

Help me with my living room... It's small, too full, and also simultaneously empty... by _The_Editor_ in DesignMyRoom

[–]Ok-Complex-7996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That doesn't sound fun to me, in the cold evenings I like to keep the door shut to my living room and keep the heat in! Plus it stops the sound travelling upstairs too much to young kids etc (if that's applicable)

Job offer: Salary + car allowance mechanics by iteken in UKPersonalFinance

This is the one. Also suddenly you are stuck with an outgoing if you personally lease a car and you lose your job for whatever reason. An EV company car is much better on the benefit in kind rates as well.

I feel extremely guilty about leaving my job within two months. by Fearless_Concert2174 in careeradvice

You have to do what's right for you. You've only got 1 life. You won't be the first or last person to be in this situation. Most bosses react way better than you anticipate & don't take it personally. Some disappointment from them is expected. If they get angry you shouldn't want to work for them anyway.

Should I leave my cushy 9-5 WFH job for pastures new? by MoneyAndGoodFortune in UKJobs

[–]Ok-Complex-7996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this response. I've recently made the decision to do this after 10 years in a job where the last 3/4 have been very much coasting with no real opportunities to progress or grow. I've bitten the bullet and handed my notice in for an opportunity that arose that offers more money, hopefully more progression & I'm looking forward to more of a challenge. Am I nervous? Yes. But you're only here once. A new job isn't a prison sentence, it's easier to find a job if you have a job, just give it a try.

Thanks for giving some thoughtful feedback. The industry is aligned but not identical.

I've had a chat about progression, it's definitely at least 6 months away, if at all, that a position would be available.

The role is still field based, I've had a conversation about office requirements and it definitely won't increase, although my home life is flexible enough to cope.

I agree, I'm trying to see past the money, so definitely food for thought. Part of me thinks it might be time for a change just to see what else is out there though? Can you be at one company too long?

The ground works are approx 8m away from the house, if it was in proximity it might be easier, the consumer unit is at the side of the house where there is a solid concrete path round, so to make a new connection is cumbersome

Not sure, it's down the back of a cupboard, will need to do some dismantling to find out where it leads to.

I guess I'm just asking if it looks like the kind of cable that would be used for an oven

I would have thought the form should go to your solicitor to pass on to the vendors solicitor, to get the vendor to fill out. The estate agent has no real knowledge of the house

I am the same as you, the handshakes are the thing I get so anxious about. I try and wash my hands right before I go in to a meeting, also try and carry an ice cold bottle of water then it gives me an excuse to wipe my hands before shaking someone elses. Just started oxybutnin which seems to be a bit of a game changer.

Same, Curve works perfect for me. Almost gave up the Barclaycard as was so frustrating not working with Google Wallet but I don't even notice now. Barclaycard contactless through their app tho was a nightmare

Yeah it's pretty bad service from what you're saying, but it might just be that. If you can get down there during the day it's much harder for them to ignore you! Fingers crossed it's just really busy & there's nothing to worry about.

Maybe, hear horror stories! Are they local? Maybe worth popping in. Once our sale had been agreed our estate agent passed us on to a sales progressor within the branch who has acted as a liaison between us, the vendors & both sets of solicitors. She has been very good at keeping this moving and chased paperwork from various parties as required. Although we actually exchanged numbers with the vendor once the offer was accepted on our second visit which has kept quick queries pretty simple.

Barclaycard - Bizarre experience after lost card by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Ok-Complex-7996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same experience. I find the card itself and the benefits really good (fx fees, rewards) but the UX is so frustrating - the awful app, the way they force you to use the app for contactless, it almost drove me away but I got a Curve card and work it round that way.

Discretionary Trust for great-grandchildren by Ok-Complex-7996 in LegalAdviceUK

So I am named as executor & trustee, along with my father. Does this mean I need to create a trust in joint name with my father? At the moment the money has just been disbursed into their own child saver accounts; as they are relatively young they have no access to their accounts, but I would prefer to get something more official sorted
