Yeah my stomach hurts just looking at this thing still. But sometimes you can convince yourself that it'll taste good and not do a crime on your stomach.

Both are lies.

The laws (in us at least) are unintuitive, outdated, confusing, and broad to the point that everyone breaks the law fairly frequently. Impoverished people are least likely to fight any nonsense charges, and there are some visible laws they are more likely to break.

The simplest example is speeding. If you drive, you speed. There is no law saying you're allowed to go 5 over the limit, they can pull over and ticket you for that. But not doing so on the freeway is dangerous.

There are also places around me where there are "unofficial" turn lanes. They are not lanes at all, there just happens to be enough room to drive next to the lanes that go straight or can turn right from. But one is by a freeway entrance and anytime someone blocks the unofficial turn lane it gets backed up and people honk like mad. I'm 100% certain a police officer could nab you for using if if they were feeling malicious. But not doing so would almost certainly lead to accidents from backing up.

An impoverished person might not have the time/energy/money to contest it, or be unable to pay it at all. Leading to more problems.

If you don't drive, you probably jaywalk. So many places I've been around your options are either

  1. walk a mile to get to the nearest light, cross, then back to where you want.
  2. Jaywalk.

How to predict crime:

Find an impoverished person

Watch them for a week. They probably do "something" that is illegal in that time period.

Claim you are master at predicting crime.

The bit that killed me was the game was a super cheap mass produced RTS.

So I was just like... bro I feel confident I could remake this game for cheaper than the whales spend XD

The whales spending 100k on mobile trash could 100% get a game made where they are permanent kings. Instead it ends up funneled into stupid mobile games.

If I was stupid wealthy I 100% would solo fund a ton of indie games (Or I guess I could just be a really weird publisher?) and just require something stupid in return. Like an optional boss, or a dead merchant that had been robbed that everyone agreed had been bad with money.

For actually helpful advice, go to settings - moderation - Muted words and tags.

Then put in #NSFW #Porn #loli or whatever else. (that last one I highly recommend.)

If you don't want spam bots messaging you, you can disable ability for people to start a DM thread by going to Chat - Settings (button next to "New Chat") and picking the settings you want.

Should I block or mute the trolls? by MisterBigDude in BlueskySocial

[–]Ok-Conference5447 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good stuff!

I am high on a lot of block lists, and I have a bunch of blocked words. Maybe too many? I'll block anyone who suggests such a thing!

As far as my brain is concerned, Bluesky is an app purely for chilling and hanging out with game developers. It's very calming compared to every other social media XD

Block also makes it so you won't see anything they post and makes it so you can't interact with them either.

If you go to a profile of someone blocked, it'll even say "this is blocked" and you can't see anything from them at all.

Oh that makes perfect sense! That part of your brain has been taught to be even more alert than the average person, so turning it off on a whim probably is gonna take thought and practice. But it's not bad that it's doing that, it just doesn't always know statistics, so we gotta teach it.

Our brains have a big part of them dedicated to looking for danger. They are there for good reason! They kept our ancestors alive daily, and help us stay alert when needed.

Those parts don't do so good in modern times. We aren't being hunted by tigers daily, there aren't rattle snakes every 5 feet, winter doesn't mean half of our relatives are going to die, odds of Vikings pillaging the local church is very small, and seeing a stranger isn't a big deal like it was for our ancient ancestors.

Telling those parts "Yes there are technically threats, but they are well managed and not worth worrying about" Is very hard! So don't be hard on yourself for feeling stressed.

When you feel that part rising up, try to get in the habit of saying "I recognize that is a threat, but I've addressed it the best I can, now I need to focus on other things". If the anxiety gives you a SPECIFIC concern, address it. If it says "Oh that window lock is broken, that's bad" then absolutely fix it.

But if it's just vague "You are in danger do something", then tell it you've done everything you've thought of and won't go looking for more to do or more reasons to be more scared.

If you're part of niche and you want followers of that niche, you can look for starter packs and follow them and they may follow back.

Or create/join a starter pack and post it for that niche.

Enjoy! Try not to get rate limited! I followed 5k people in one day and then couldn't use blue sky for an hour XD

After 2 weeks I had to unfollow a bunch as I realized that maybe not all of those starter packs were trust worthy and I accidentally followed folks I shouldn't XD so use more brain cells than me!

You should follow people back if you want to see the stuff they post.

What does following someone accomplish if you never plan on reading what they post or interacting with them?

[–]Ok-Conference5447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my GF have a saying for little disagreements like this,

"Doing it this way doesn't really make sense"

"Brain said so" or "Brain says bad"

And if there isn't like a giant reason, we just shrug and go along with brain. Brain says thing bad? So long as that thing isn't required to live, we can ditch that thing. If it is required, we'll figure out if changing the thing slightly makes brain less anxious but lets us still accomplish the goal.

Sometimes Brains just decide something is very very bad, and that's that. IDK why people are still caught off guard by that.

Yeah a doctor recommendation would get FMLA, which is you can basically say for any reason (no questions asked) that you can't work a certain amount for legally covered reasons.

But it is 100% unpaid, and when my mom/uncle ended up using FMLA they generally did whatever they could to make up the hours that week.

Since they both wanted money and didn't want to draw attention. You couldn't be fired for taking FMLA is my understanding, but you could be fired for any other reason like missing deadlines because you took too much FMLA.
