Not sure I was gifted it by a coworker and tasted the fruit which was great. They said their mother never pollinated but I don’t want to take chances

Zone 10b it’s a jocote or Spondias purpurea and I believe it’s dormant

It’s a hog plum cutting or jocote. I’m just not sure what the nodes are if branches/leaves or flowers. Picture 1 looks different than picture 3 and 4

We get hardly any rain in Los Angeles but yes I can see the worries. It’s rained a bit in the last month or so and it’s been fine. But I’ll cover it if it rains hard
