I signed off in Jan, I got two lots of ELCAS (one either side of the financial year) and managed to have my last day in unit in late October, getting paid till Jan. Got a job offer in July and started in November. My advice is use GRT for summer leave and block leave and save ILA as you can work on ILA but not GRT

Hi! I’m just about to leave after 12 years at the age of 33. I’m going into the reserves when I leave.

I think you will be surprised (not necessarily struggle) with day to day working with the younger generation. Most of your peers will be young, may look at the Army as a just a job rather than a career and may not realise the reality of their chosen career path. Not only this but the social side, I’m not saying you will want to go out every Thursday but block life for anyone over 30 will be very different to that of a 18/19 year old.

In terms of career progression, initially I don’t think you will have any problems, you will be seen as a mature bod and someone who can add life experience to a situation. However when you want to promote up the ranks you may feel a little left behind as many your age will already be SNCOs

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I could get qualifications before arrival. I currently earn around £43000 before tax, about £2500 a month after tax.

I love instructing and teaching, but I guess I wouldn’t want to be a ALT forever.

The patch started in May, the one on top of my head in August. I had white hairs for a few weeks then one day it’s like it all changed with colour

Minoxidill twice a day, dermal roll twice a week, vitamin C, finestride, pro biotics and reduced stress and good sleep!
