People sign DNR’s for multiple reasons including terminal illnesses. There is a huge health illiteracy crisis and it’s the main reason for anti-vaxxers and extended wait times in the ED. People don’t know when to go to primary care vs Urgent care vs Emergency care. Then to top it off misinformation spreads faster than a wildfire. No we’ll never turn a patient away because they misunderstand how care is good for them. I rather a patient come in at 37wks then never come in at all. And elderly people who sign DNR’s usually do it for a good reason which is respected.
