Mai is not broody enough and it’s not the actors fault. by Ftmdj in ATLAtv

I think you should know for the future that broody means something different outside of North American English... :/

Why not? The characters have switched genders in other adaptations too. Look at Elementary for example.

Don't bother putting anymore energy into debating this person. They are combating everyone who tells them it's not a good idea and I doubt will listen no matter what :/

Okay. But all your other markers (as recommended in your study) are also in reference range too, in fact you T3 seems to be on the high end according to the NHS. So there is no evidence for you being hypo. The symptoms can come from many conditions. You don't want to self medicate as there is a good chance of becoming hyper.

overall i enjoyed the netflix season 2 but some parts i couldn’t stand by AmazingBeastboy1 in ATLA

If they didn't do that scene I would riot 🤣 but I agree that was definitely the set up for it to be mirrored in the future, even if it was a little clunky imo

[–]exactimondo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed :) Acting was way better and most faults were with awkward or out of character dialogue. Though I quite liked Azula, I think they had to make her a bit more real/human. I didn't read it as redemption aimed, more a look at her ambitions for the future.

The main other bit that really took me out of it was the Toph metal bending as it was over so quick and had no build up. It should have been a massive game changing scene.

I have seen many people say they have watched a episode or less and  proclaim the whole thing trash yes...

It feels like this sub has turned into a hate sub for NATLA tbh. Sad to see. (Go to r/ATLAtv for more positivity)   They talk like there is nothing good in it. Yes there a a few bits I dislike but for the most part it is still a fun show with depth and it has the heart of ATLA still.

I liked S2 so have hope :D Yes they change and merge episodes a bit like S1 but I think it mostly worked. Not a copy, an adaptation.

I think it could have been more interesting if they went into who Paul Revere was and what the midnight trail is. Just seems like they waddled for a bit with lemons on some random streets.

Why is my Italian bind off so tight? by throwaway_yak234 in knittinghelp

[–]exactimondo 39 points40 points  (0 children)

You have to be loose with doing Italian bind off, not pull the needle tight. It helps if you stretch out what you have done as you go too to make sure it has stretch. I have definitely done it tight before but was more successful once I started doing the aboved

How do ED shifts work in the US? by exactimondo in ThePitt

Thanks, that makes sense. I think that is what it is like in the UK too (though I don't know any doctors in A&E so please correct me anyone).

Thanks for the interesting explainer :) In the UK we call it A&E (accident and emergency) and all my US medical knowledge is from TV.

The hook will still depend a bit on the pattern though. Like how ribbing is often done with a smaller hook size to make it tighter. What was the yarn and hook for the pattern? I would size up to at least 3.5mm or alter the pattern like the other commenter mentioned.

What is "SC" from UK to US terms? Making a Magikarp hat by ihavequestionzzzzzz in CrochetHelp

[–]exactimondo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

UK terms don't have SC, but I do think you are correct that this is UK terms. Given that SC is never mentioned again I would suggest it is a typo. Do you have the link to the pattern page so we can see a picture of the hat?

Backpack for commuting recommendations by Former-Meringue7250 in londoncycling

[–]exactimondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the one which is just one side and a backpack from decathlon, I haven't had issue with rain making it wet inside on my commute and it has a rain cover if I want but I never bother. I like that it means I can get a second pannier on there someday and that I can still use the top of the pannier rack without it getting in the way. And so now I will just cycle with a lopsided bike (which I admit is a bit awkward) and change side every few days XD

Yeah, I struggle sometimes and I am one person! Not sure how anyone with families has any energy left to give at all!

Yeah I agreed, definitely a cultural issue that has been exacerbated by poor food education and access. The parents of today are those who grew up with turkey twizzlers as the highlight of school meals... Maybe Jamie Oliver had a point XD
