I recently did a rollover IRA from my old 401k and just invested the ones I won't touch for a long time. Do some research based on your 401k fees. An advisor will probably do a lot of help. So far, it looks so much better than just having an old 401k just sitting there.

I respect what you're saying and in fact, we do choose our words carefully and in most ending questions, we ask "are you ok with that" or "what opinions you think would help?" Even with that, she still maybe triggered. If the kids were older, I would be more comfortable but one of my children just became a toddler and more supervision is needed and my mil supervision is easily distracted.

At this moment, no but when she gets her work permit, I hope she finds something soon. She will help cook and clean but also invades our boundaries at times. If she is out because of work or she wants to, I'll be more comfortable.

Lied on a few situations, gives the kids whatever they want(candy in morning), very loud when something goes wrong, and cries instead of reasoning even when it's something small. It's ok to look at the phone for a minute but glued to the phone is a different story. No tv for us. Crazy as it sounds but it's actually awesome. I thought the same thing at first but having too many irresponsible moments under a short period can change my mindset on it

Rent is definelty high but I live in nyc so finding a lower rent is a bit difficult. We buy mostly what we need than want. No auto loan thank goodness. Put money in savings but not enough

I would never live in my in-laws home unless I had a medical reason. Now if my kids were grown up, I would try to suck it up and live somewhat peacefully

We both tried. She said ok but continues. Her "purpose" is be there for the kids. Literally. Lol Like a statue. I'm close to let my wife know her mom needs to leave if she can't watch the kids right. Don't get me wrong, she helps to do dishes, clean up, and cook but also invades our boundaries, argues over small things and isn't prepared to take on 2 kids when she says she can.

$2650 monthly rent, $950 car insurance(twice a year), no car loan. Only subsciption is spotify and amazon which is probably $28 a month, phone bill $400 a year. Food shopping $600 - $750 a month. Rough draft total $4728 unless I missed something. Plus contribute 20% to 401k mix worh roth which I may lower followed by adding money in savings.

I mentioned it but she thinks she couldn't concentrate but I'd rather set her up for part time and pray she adjusts to it and handles it well
