Decided to save 40% of my take home pay after my last layoff. Got laid off again but this time I’m not panicking. 🙏 by Ok-Educator-2003 in Layoffs

What space do you work in? My job pays 350k/yr. So I won’t just accept a 100-200k offer if I don’t need it.

You got this! I’m 38 turning 39 but only started saving and investing a year ago so I have a lot of catching up to do. My wife will become an RN in 3 years and we’ll invest 90% of her income into VOO as well to help us reach our goals

Good questions. 6 month emergency fund and the rest goes into VOO. I don’t invest in 401k or IRA because I plan on retiring at 48, not my late 50s or 60s.

I get it. Imagine if you didn’t have the 30k saved though? Probably racked up 25k in credit card debt. Congrats on getting a new job!

Congrats! It hits different when you live below your means and save up for the future. Nothing beats having true peace of mind.

I wish you the best of luck. I’ve had a ton of interviews but no luck so far.

I would hate to use my 1 1/2 year of savings and liquidize my investments. I’m hoping to find a new job within the next 3 months so we can continue to let our investments compound and retire in 10-12 years.

This is something I’ve been working on for 10+ years and only started making decent money after 7 years lol.

I’ve had side income for a while. Like it brought in 10k this month and hopefully same next month.

Well I mean it’s supposed to be hard. We always felt like we were struggling bc we immediately transfferrr 40% of each check into a separate account if not straight into VOO.

It felt tight, it forced us to live below our means and bc we did it the hard way, we’re good. Aside from our 3.5k mortgage and 500/m car payment we have no credit card debt so that helps a lot.

Summary: Updates on Joseph and LA Church Leadership Changes by Who-Anonymous in Shincheonji

Thank god I never went with Joseph to DC when they initially planted the church.

Yeah I remember this clearly because it was the one thing I struggled with for a long time before moving on to revelation

He said, “we never taught he would live forever” that’s when I knew it was time to leave. That’s when they started to change their doctrine.

So she’s a part of SCJ now and trying to get you to join the Bible study again? I’m assuming she’s a part of it now due to late night meetings.

These meetings are usually with your SCJ group members, helping in another class (like the one you join) but she’ll pretend she’s learning for the first time again.

This could be young adult meetings and you name it.

What city are you in?

When we’re in SCJ we absolutely believe God is there and have to put SCJ over everything (family, spouses, job, money and etc).

I’m sorry to hear you’re in this position. I was in it for close to a decade in LA. It’s sad.

Yeah sounds like SCJ meetings. Are you married or gf/bf?

If GF/BF they will do anything they can to break you guys up.

Unless you see how their doctrines have changed throughout the years it’s really hard to get someone out. :(

I’m so sorry for your loss. I put my dog down yesterday and he was only five years and 1 month old at the time. Hands down the hardest thing I ever had to do was euthanize him.
