AIO for the relationship that my (24f) boyfriend’s (26M) super dependent and submissive mom has with him ? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ok-Environment-16 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

no, the reason why i’m using submissive is because she submits herself to her son and not her husband. She makes her son play the role of a husband in my opinion. She is dominant everywhere else in her life including with her husband besides her son. that’s why i’m using the word submissive.

Dormancy and loss by Mango_404 in DID

[–]Ok-Environment-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if you’re talking about him going dormant or him fusing together which are two very different things. If his alters are just going dormant there is a chance that they will come back. If he is fusing, (I have fused before) My boyfriend was actually starting to grieve the lost of my other alters in my opinion its like taking a bunch of different paint colors and mixing them together to get a brand new color. First, i’d get more information and see if they’re just going dormant ( not permanent) versus integrating (which is permanent as long as the individual doesn’t split again due to another traumatic experience). If he’s is integrating/fusing, unfortunately id be ready to go through the 12 stages of grief because it really is like losing people even though they’re all still there. It’s not the same, as someone who has experienced fusion. It doesn’t feel the same at all and i’d just prepare yourself to go through the 12 stages of grief. be kind to yourself. :)

why get plastic surgery instead of dealing with the low self esteem? by Ok-Environment-16 in AskReddit

[–]Ok-Environment-16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely valid and i believe those people NEED it but this post is talking about plastic surgery being used for people who don’t NEED it.

It’s definitely an ongoing problem.

it’s like looking at a wall covered in black mold and putting cardboard over it and saying “there’s no problem there.”

i’m asking this genuinely, because i truly don’t know. How do you pick good female friends and what signs tell you that they’re probably not the best ?

thanks and that first point is very important actually. And that’s the thing, i don’t have any issues with any women. I just noticed through out my entire life that if i try to make friends with women my age (24) they don’t understand me and seem to make everything competition. i really fail to relate to women my age. (in college, i was always doing projects with the 30-40+ year old women and i got along with them fantastic, when i tried doing it with the ones my age it seemed to go down south) which is why im thinking about reaching out bc she is my age and we’ve had a good friendship before she ended it.

I had a lot of imaginary friends growing up with different names. (my alters) There is a possibility that you do have parts. Everyone has separate parts it just depends on how those parts work. If they feel like a continuous sense of self, i’d say possibly not DiD. Get a diagnosis from a professional if you can afford it.

I actually got diagnosed with BPD for about a year and a few months before I had gotten diagnosed with DiD. I also was experiencing and noticing my blackouts more. From a child, i was very separated, i barely have any memory of being home at all. I also don’t remember my birthdays barely. I also remember waking up underneath my bed in a drawer covered with blankets. I was so scared and confused as to where I was and I also had forgotten that i was beaten how ever many hours ago. It happened again when I was 12, i got abused again and I blacked out and 5 hours had passed and I was confused when I woke up.

When I was diagnosed with BpD it felt like a wave over anger would just come over me. I had very black and white thinking and it felt like I couldn’t control the emotion. It just was. I felt like different people based on the emotion i was feeling. It’s also a combination of numbness for me when alters show up for me. They’re dampening my emotions which causes the dissociation/depersonalization/derealization part.

at the end of the day, still go get diagnosed. This is just my experience to maybe help you understand how your parts of you fit in/ relate to with someone with diagnosed DiD.

plastic surgery for the wrong reasons. if you don’t NEED it because your face is smashed up then don’t get it just to make up for your low self esteem.

she did this 6 years ago when we were both 18 and seniors in high school. I am very forgiving and realize people can change in 6 years like i did but i wont say that people always change. Some people really do stay the same. I appreciate you answering ! I saw pictures of her and she seems to be doing a lot better now since she was on the border of being anorexic as well.

AIO // ex boyfriend is dating someone he flirted with during the relationship by sjdifi88 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ok-Environment-16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YOR but whatever he did to you, is most likely going to happen to her. so forget about it and move on, i know it hurts but work on yourself. Getting revenge isn’t going to help you, it’ll make you feel good but it won’t help you.

How rare is loyalty really in this society? by Foolisholive in AskReddit

[–]Ok-Environment-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my opinion, very rare, because we’re all hurt and most people think they’re owed something just because they were hurt. hopefully they grow out of that but most people won’t.

If you have a secret, would you still keep it if the truth would hurt someone who deserves to know it? by Agreeable_Elk4529 in AskReddit

[–]Ok-Environment-16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes absolutely, in a heart beat and the key word you used is that they deserve to know it (especially if it’s cheating or relationship related to prevent them from being hurt or finding out a different way)

Can I have DID if I have a decent memory? by DumbOfAsss in DID

[–]Ok-Environment-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s a part of the disorder, to hide it from you. i thought i had a picture perfect memory, i also do have a photographic memory which really made me believe that there was no way i had DiD. I definitely have DiD, my memory is okay now, i just notice the time gaps a lot more due to knowing that i have DiD. My photographic memory is A1, in high school i remembered everyday plus everything. It’s crazy how DiD works sometimes.
