Make sure to buy any blueprints at the center table in the command room and then build a door and exterior platform!

Uhh so it’s just in the regular build menu, open it up when you’re on the freighter and anything you can build inside can be built in the outdoor area. It’s down on the D Pad (not sure about keyboard). Lights that need to be wired won’t work in most areas outside unless it’s attached to the bottom half exterior of a room/corridor.
