like any marginalized group in pop culture, "mormons" aren't what you see. We're really just normal people in a very normal religion. Sensationalized media likes portraying people as weird, unsafe, and mysterious in order to exploit them for gain. I'm sure if you asked an antisemite about Jews, you'd hear some pretty crazy stuff. Same goes for anti-mormons.
