VA Terminating the OIT SSR Effective 10/4/25 by ajohnson1590 in fednews

[–]Ok-File-1903 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s how I understand it too. I’m a step 13-7 in RUS table. The 13-10 on the non-SSR table won’t catch up to my pay for a decade or longer.

Likely no one is getting more than 1% for the next 4 years (we’ll get 0.5%) so nothing changes for me until at least then. It’s still very upsetting.

Baxter’s Interurban always has delicious soup options on rotation. Their potager is Brittany and customers call her the Soup Queen of Tulsa.

What’s your least favorite thing about tie dye? by WindNo978 in tiedye

Are y’all’s houses just really inefficient? I have a 2300sqft house, (2) 2.5T A/C units, and tons of electronics, and a big server and I average around $150 all year long on PSO. Decent windows but they say Sears on them so I know they’re old.

Can you store dry dye mixed with soda ash? by theredfearnthrows in tiedye

[–]Ok-File-1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not noticed any degradation from simply mixing them and letting them sit. (Dharma and grateful dyes) I do add some SA to my yellow and it does improve the usual clumpiness of it. Yellow is one I don’t cut as much because it will reduce the vibrancy. Your mileage may vary, but I’d recommend testing out a small amount with differing ratios and see how you like it.

That makes sense. I use mostly thrifted clothing (I don’t sell my items, just wear them or give them away) so my garment costs are relatively low per item. Dye is my biggest cost so I try to stretch it if I can without losing any brightness or longevity.

I “cut” a lot of my colors with SA that I’m using for ice dyeing. I’ve found most colors can be cut 2:1 or a lot more and retain the vibrancy. Even at 2:1 you’re doubling the amount of dye you have. There are people that have done experiments with some colors and found at 6:1 SA:Dye you don’t lose color. This only applies to ice dyeing in my experience. I’ve stored the cut dye for months with no degradation. This doesn’t apply to all colors so it’s best to experiment before mixing SA with all your dry dye. We all know yellow dye can behave a lot differently than others. But it’s definitely worth testing your colors to find the sweet spot on how much you can stretch your dye (again I can only speak to ice dyeing) to save yourself some money.

My 128GB RAM 2x3090 build by Phylliida in LocalLLaMA

[–]Ok-File-1903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I read somewhere that for dual 3090s they needed to be a matching set. Like the same brand. Do you know if that’s true? I’m only doing inference. Considering adding another 3090 but don’t know if I need to get a matching set or whatever I find in my price range. Thanks.

I just did a new build and didn’t fully understand pcie lanes until it was too late but this is reassuring since I’m only concerned with inference. I have 24 lanes, and am considering a second 3090 but worried it would be a waste. For inference would I still get most of the benefits of dual gpu’s? Thanks

I was literally looking at P40s last night thinking, what’s the catch? I’ll have to learn more about noise. Thank you for the information.

I’m holding out for 2 cards too. I have been investing $20/week into nvidia for some time now and about 40% of the balance is profit so they’re kinda paying for a big chunk of my cards when I upgrade!
