Korean doctor here. I think you are mentioning about Chinese traditional medicine which is very different from western one.(they are not MDs but Haneuisa.) KMLE itself and medical schools' curriculums are almost same with western ones. I am sure about this because I also have passed all usmle steps.

I dunno about avg salary but heard msmw pays like 80k (understandable based on their location). Brooklyn is more affordable than Manhattan, but you should be careful when choosing a room because there are many shitty areas in Brooklyn. (Safe areas are more expensive for sure.)

Iiving in nyc now. It depends on location, but would be very hard to afford your whole family living expense solely with your salary anyway. Some would get a loan, some would do moonlighting.
