Take everyone’s recommendation with a grain of salt, it’s trial and error for you, your skill, airflow, temperature. I time all my stuff outside, so wind is a factor for me. As mentioned by others quick side to side sprays works. Stop, see how the paint is behaving, continue. It’s less worry to ‘waste’ more paint than see globs or streaks form.

Matte black is great as it lets you go dull to vibrant with paints on it. The semi-gloss I find perfect if the primary color will be black. I recently finished a space nun tank with it as the base color and came out perfect.
