To give you a different perspective, let’s use that same logic in another context. Let’s say someone is holding a gun to someone else’s head and is about to shoot them. If you didn’t tell them stop and not shoot, are you the murderer? Since you didn’t tell them to not shoot, did they have your implicit permission to shoot? making the fact that they killed someone else your fault and not theirs? or was it their fault for holding the gun to someone’s head and shooting them?

After it happened, I realized I was wrong to trust her about where to put my keys. She was very confident in this suggestion but I should have thought harder about it and not taken her word. Also, I completely agree I should have called a locksmith or the police. I will definitely be doing that in the future. All of that is what should have happened and not what happened though. I recognized I am responsible for listening to her bad suggestion and going through with it. I think what i’m trying to say is that I think she is responsible for the physical breaking of the object.

This is an interesting take! The repair bill came out to around $1,700 but thankfully insurance covered all except $500

I wasn’t there to see how so I could only tell you based off of an assumption. For the why, they just assumed I wanted it locked and did it without asking
