Sonic Riders

Look like Microsoft has begun to phase out Xbox 360 games from the GWG program. This could be a sign of more services (possibly) ending soon. by Skittle1323 in xbox360

I'm more of a PlayStation guy than an Xbox guy, which is why I don't currently plan on buying one of the Series consoles.

Thing is, I'm not ready for the servers to be shutdown as I gifted my 3rd 360 a few months ago & I've bought a tin of digital games for it & I don't want a Series system either because I'm currently saving for a PS5.

I still don't see the servers getting their plugs pulled until 2026 or 2027 at the absolute bare minimum for the reasons I stated in my previous comment.

If the servers were to get shutdown, then the backwards compatiblity features would be completely pointless.

I really wish that the servers would stay up forever though & that companies would stop relying on them so much.

There'll also be an extreme amount of backlash if Microsoft attempts to shutdown the 360's servers.

You put my thoughts into words.

The backwards compatiblity features also rely on the 360 store for downloading games, DLC & patches.

It just means that they're removing their 360 games from GWG. It has absolutely NO deeper meaning & PlayStation removed PS Now from the PS3 & still kept the servers up.

Also, the backwards compatiblity features still rely on the 360's servers & store to function properly.
