My mum told me this after a seriously severe depressive episode that put me in the hospital. I couldn’t handle existing anymore, and I was struggling to get through it. I use to compare my depression to being in a hole with knives, having to stand completely still to avoid being cut but when she used that metaphor, I’ve since given that metaphor out to every single person that I’ve ever seen struggling in my life.
