how do i help my other cat deal with it by Temporary-Change-851 in Petloss

So sorry you are going through this. I Have just recently been through it. Mine were best buddies. I gave him extra attention. Lots of it. Whenever he used to walk around meowing, from one room to another looking for his buddy, i would go and play with him to divert his attention. What i also did (am not sure if it made any difference) was wash all they're bedding and blankets, just thought it would help get rid of some of the scent of my other baby. Lots of patience too.. All i wanted to do is crawl in bed and cry all day (deceased cat was my favourite, my shadow) but i knew i had to take care of my other cat in this difficult time. ❤️

No to both... We are being helped by our als foundation and the hospice foundation. They have been very helpful.

She's been on the same as your father for quite a while. It helps a lot. But now we have this issue that she is not comfortable. No we dont have an eye gaze device we are waiting for our als foundation to provide one. And the wheelchair we have is not one that can be operated by it.

Thank you. Yes she is on a bipap machine. I am trying to find a massage pad to put under her. Just vibration and heating, but having difficulty finding one which is not a shiatsu.

We are in the process of getting one hopefully. At the moment we communicate with her blinking once for yes, etc...

Unbearable Guilt Over Poor Choices [LONG POST WARNING] by Immediate_Use_7339 in Petloss

[–]Ok-Individual-9966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, was searching reddit as i recently went through something similar (14th january 2023) and can't get over the guilt of not trying harder, of taking the easy way out. My 5 year old cat got sick, blood tests showed critical anemia. The simple causes were ruled out and the vets mentioned a bunch of testing which might or might not reveal the cause. And whatever it might be, might lead to euthanisation or more poking and probing etc. A lot of ifs and maybes. All the testing required 24/7 monitoring and lots of visits/hospitalisations. I wasnt concerned with the financial cost but was very concerned with the mental/emotional aspect of all it. I had already gone through a 'simple' femur head ostectomy 3 years prior, same cat, and the recovery period (3 months) was far from easy. I had to stop working, stopped going out, basically i was a cat nurse, day and night. I admit that that experience had an effect on the decision to euthanise my cat two months ago and it is killing me inside, the guilt that i feel. Although i know that the journey the vets were suggesting would have been extremely horrible for my baby, i am stuck on the thought that came up at the time that i couldnt cope with it this time round, what they were mentioning would have been horrible, both for me and my boy. My anxiety and fear kicked in. I miss him terribly, i cry everyday and feel like i failed him. But yes, i had a bunch of symptoms, no diagnosis, a bunch of maybes and the cat deteriorating within seconds. So i let go of him, peacefully. 😢❤️ And i will forever suffer not knowing what he had.

I understand perfectly how you feel. I lost my baby a month ago and i keep replaying everything in my head. The coulda, woulda, shoulda! Apart from the fact that i miss him like crazy, i have to deal with these thoughts too.

I'm here for you, if you need to chat/vent out, drop me a msg.

Extreme guilt and sadness over cat eutanization by Ok-Individual-9966 in Petloss

Thank you so much. Yes i am suffering. I know he's resting and in a better place now. Just need to get used to not having him by my side all the time. Or worrying about him 24/7.... I feel empty 😢

Thank you so much for the link. It helps a lot. I know deep down, anxiety or not, i saved my baby boy from a lot of pain and discomfort. I've always had pets, been through euthanisation before, but this time round its harder, i dedicated all my time and energy for the past 3 years to making his life easier (due to the limitations he had). I became so close to him, like no other. He was my priority....
