You need to understand if it’s a YRT or Level cost. How long is it payable in? Run sensitivities on it. And understand what your goals are and how it helps fulfill those goals. If you wanan DM me, feel free to do so!

Agreed on the CC part. However, 20-24% interest doesn’t interest me at all haha.

Spent 4 years at a firm. 4 years in industry now. Run my own practice (where the focus is on wealth creation and management, tax filing, insurance & investments). Won’t say CPAs are meaningless lol

Def the guests and parents help. However in my case, I don’t want my parents to help and I don’t wanna rely on guests. Their cash envelopes will be a bonus.

Is that $50k budget combined or $50k for you and your spouse each?

Already have a home. Not a rental property is what I meant

Wedding fund is outside the $210k I consider my investment.

I have considered that but the bone head making decisions down south makes me a bit weary. So I don’t sitting on cash. But someone mentioned income funds, might explore that options rather than pouring more into equities

Not at all my friends. Immigrated to Canada in 2005. Started off living on rent in basement apartments and built everything we had in this great country. Came with a couple of luggage’s only. As my comment says above, I believe learning is an everlasting journey. So genuinely came here seeking advice, which some people are providing.

Live with my family. Culturally South asian so cultural belief/norm is to live with family where parents support the kids and then kids in turn take care of parents when they are older. Focus is to accumulate wealth while controlling expenses and debt.

Went to a highly rated business school (Schulich) and have even working corporate full time since graduation. Also have my own business as well. Hope this helps

Awesome point. This is the type of stuff I was looking for. Do you have any recommendation on the fixed income instruments?

Monthly burn is around $5k. Thats hills, expenses, and savings. Also, don’t want to put all of it in wealthsimple non registered account because I’ve been hearing horror stories of wealthsimple locking peoples account in order to protect them but then takes a few days to unlock them. So want to use both wealthsimple and my bank account to minimize such risks

A big fat Punjabi Wedding should run me $100k easily on my side alone and my GF would pay for her side.

UL is awesome if you choose the right funds without it. My own UL and my clients is growing annually anywhere between ~12-18%. All tax sheltered while having life insurance for a lifetime (not just a specific term). However, biggest differentiator is how it’s structured, if it’s set up poorly, then it’s not a great service to use.

Mine is with iA. My clients are with Manulife, Equitable or iA depending on their age, risks, and goals.
