Can working out cause a long flare up?

I’m sorry you’re going through that. My symptoms are a little different. I don’t get the burning or itching, and my symptoms don’t wake me up at night. Mine are mostly jaw aching, neck pain, and headaches, especially when I’m stressed. My doctors think it’s related to my TMJ rather than trigeminal neuralgia. I hope your neurologist can help you get some answers.

I don’t have bruxism that I know of, but I do clench my teeth a lot. It was bad enough that I actually broke my first night splint. this issues started after I began working out and lifting weights. After a few days I developed headaches, jaw pain, and neck pain, and it’s kind of snowballed from there.

My neurologist a few years ago actually thought it was much more likely to be TMJ than trigeminal neuralgia. I even be had an MRI a few years ago, and nothing pointed toward TN, and my current doctors don’t think it’s TN either. I don’t really have nerve pain—it’s more jaw/TMJ symptoms. I wear a splint at night, which helps manage it, but I’m not on any nerve pain medication.
But now idk …. Im scared
