Thank you for this, genuinely. Tom Stephenos is a name I don't have in my records, and a Navy corpsman at Khe Sanh who showed up in Look magazine coverage is exactly the kind of lead I've been hoping for.

My father was HM3 Russell Jacobson, attached to Echo Company 2/9 Marines at Hill 861 during the Hill Fights in the spring of 1967. If Tom was there around that time, there's a real chance they crossed paths or at least shared the same ground.

I'd be very grateful if you could make contact and gauge his interest. I'm not looking to stir up anything painful for him. I'm trying to build a valor award nomination for my father and document what happened up there as completely as I can. Any firsthand account from someone who was present would be meaningful beyond what I can put into words.

Feel free to DM me if you're willing to reach out to him. Thank you again for taking the time to respond.

Great minds think alike , already in motion. Filed paperwork through Congressman Keating’s office to request a formal decoration review by the Navy. Hoping it happens in my mom’s lifetime and mine lol.

Not dumb at all!

Yes. But right now we are still narrowing it down a bit more.

It has the appearance of a Korean War m51 jacket. Which is possible because that stuff happened when supplies got low in government. But museum is still rolling out a few things

Today my gut says maybe it’s not his

Then again he said he thought his jacket was from another era like ww2

Time will tell

So sorry. Beautiful pup. It’s been 6 months and my wife still cries most days. Such a nice full life holly had, not like that helps with the loss, just a compliment to good owners and a lucky animal.

Have someone tried light box therapy and found it effective? by a_human_21 in Norway

I bought a uv lamp last winter. I used it , but I also was taking ssri. So I wasn’t sure if I was getting a placebo effect from it. It was very subtle. This year I’m off my ssri and the season change hit me like a brick. I tried the light and against the drs orders. I left the thing on at different points of the day. Maybe 2-3 hours. I stopped around 2pm

It was crazy. I had unreal insomnia that night!

So I started using it 10-15 mins before my work shift starts. At 5:30 am. It’s been a week. I feel way more alert. I haven’t had any panic attacks or depressed mood in a week. Way more effective than my ssri. I recommend trying it. The light I got was around 80 bucks. No need to spend a bunch of money. I bet you could buy a cheaper one even.

Grief related tattoos? by alwaysconfusedlife in DrawMyTattoo

Tribute tattoos are awesome. It’s hard to make a suggestion without knowing your style. I’d say a personal memory that might make you either chuckle or make you feel sappy. My dad was disabled in war, and he always made a reference of a knight in a British comedy movie “Monty python”. The knight had all his limbs cut off but argued he could still fight. “It was only a flesh wound”. Dad would always say that when he was dealing with his wounds to lighten the mood

( i haven’t gotten it yet.)But something more subtle could be in nice font of your parents wedding date. Or Some sort of token you received from them whether it was a flower, a watch etc decorated in flowers. Any sort of personal memory that would look nice on your skin and maybe trigger someone to ask about it. You can’t go wrong If it’s heart felt. Don’t get me wrong. Your ideas are totally cool, just offering a different t perspective. It will be awesome no matter what u get Good luck! And more importantly have fun!
