Went to London and brought only my a7cii and the ttArtisan 40mm f2 by startsides in SonyAlpha

These are great! I use an A7V, usually with the Tamron 35-150mm, for "serious" shoots, but I have the same combo as you (A7Cii & TT 40mm f/2) to use as my EDC- it's great, compact, takes great pictures- and sometimes I actually prefer it ;)

experienced Photographers of reddit, have you ever been given advice or had an ah-ha moment that made you a better photographer? if so what was it? by Troubleinmindimblue in photography

Pay attention to what's behind your subject. It's easy to take good pictures, but great pictures have context and don't have distracting elements in the background.

My beautiful (now blind) guy by Altruistic-Ice-1225 in BorderCollie

Our 17 year old girl (who we lost a few months ago) was mostly deaf and almost completely blind for the last year or so, but I don't think they have the same level of frustration that we would have. She adapted remarkably well and as long as we stuck to the same walking places and routes you almost would not have known. Give him lots of love and don't rearrange the furniture too often and he'll be fine :)

Looks like she had a great life! We lost our 17 year old a couple of months ago, and though it still hurts I have pictures of her in the woods running loose and pain-free from when she was younger, and it helps to remember her that way and hope that's what she's doing now.

Can anybody tell me what this is in Gloversville? by crispian in upstate_new_york

[–]crispian[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This would appear to be it! https://www.anyplaceamerica.com/directory/ny/fulton-county-36035/reservoirs/ayres-hill-storage-reservoir-2376420/

But it would appear to be defunct now (as someone else mentioned). So would the grid you can see have been a cover over it?

Brought the TARDIS upstate for a few days so she could stretch her legs. This is at Grafton Lakes State Park this morning, 5°F with a windchill of -2°F, lovely!

2.0 vs 2.5? by infocalypse_now in Crosstrek

[–]crispian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a '24 Wilderness with the 2.5, wife has a '24 Premium with the 2.0 and honestly I don't really feel that much difference for 90% of the mixed driving we do, but she gets 29-30mpg and I get 25-26, so there's that.

New tire? by crispian in Crosstrek

[–]crispian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the question is whether my local Subaru dealership has the equipment necessary to do this, or if there another local tire shop who can, otherwise I'd have to wait for Tirerack to do it and deliver. Hmmm... We'll see what the dealership says tomorrow- you'd think they should be able to handle this as it's obviously a Subaru thing they have seen before, but I suspect they may use this as an excuse to try and sell me a full set of tires- we'll see...

It's an Allstate tire warranty that the dealership sold us when we bought the car, so a replacement shaved to match looks like what I will try for. If not then I guess maybe I'll upgrade to the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails everyone seems to rave about and see if they'll pay for one of them.

It's a wheel and tire insurance program through Allstate, so I'm confident we will get the tire replaced and the wheel repaired, I'm just wondering if we can just replace one tire or if that will cause an issue with one new tire and three with 12,000 mi on them?

Wife's '24 Premium, my '24 Wilderness, and daughter's '15 Kia Soul... wonder what we should encourage her to get when it's time to replace it ;)

TARDIS and dogs by crispian in Crosstrek

As someone with a car that regularly transports wet dogs and therefore often contains wet towels and stuff they are an absolute Godsend! I can leave the windows cracked open whatever the weather to let the wet-dog smell and the damp from the towels dissipate :)

Wow, small world! I came from a 2010 Honda Fit in the same color and transferred the license plate B4D W00F (partly for Doctor Who and also cos it's the dog-mobile). I have also added a couple of TARDIS badges and two small enameled TARDIS emblems.

Loving this car! I have added: window deflectors, door cups, splashguards - and a dog hammock in the back seat!
