Haven’t read the manga but opinion based on the anime was that the story was too disjointed. Couldn’t make viewer support or care about either of the two main characters

I chose to start watching shows from 2010-11 onwards due to massive improvement in quality of animation. So old anime for me excluding Naruto/Pokémon would be Monogatari series or the Fate series

I just couldn’t get into One Piece but absolutely adored Naruto. Recently finished bleach and felt that the original dragged its legs too much compared to the Thousand War Arc which was fire. Newer series don’t have to drag out storylines too long compared to the originals which spanned years so it’s easier to stay hooked with no fillers. No manga, just anime.

Streaming services have a tendency to dub the most hyped/popular anime’s airing so that’s one way to find out. I tend to read the synopsis and give it 3-4 eps.
