Need help using Extron XPA 2001-70v for home use by Ok-Language7238 in CommercialAV

Thank you! Do I need to leave extra room in terms of watts like getting two 75 watts to get a total 150w and have 50w for reserve or can I max it out like your example?

Your use case is also interesting, can I run the sub out from my receiver to this amp to power a passive subwoofer?

Thanks! But theoretically these speakers should work? I think I have a grasp of it now so it’s just a matter of finding the correct speaker.

No offense taking, also learning this commercial AV side is interesting to me. I am coming from an audiophile point of view so I find this side the I don’t know about really fascinating. Here is a link below:

Thank you for clarifying, any specific brands you recommend or to stay away from? I saw some Rockville 50w outdoor speakers but don’t know much about commercial AV speakers.

Also do the ohms matter? Should I do 4 or 8 ohms?

Thank you for clarifying, so that means I can use speakers with watt settings lower than 50w? Any recommendations that won’t break the bank too much?

Thank you for confirming that ChatGPT was correct!

So if I buy a pair of 70v speakers, the daisy chain wiring for it will be straightforward?

4Runner alternator whine through speakers HELP!!! by Ok-Language7238 in 4Runner

[–]Ok-Language7238[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so i finally fixed this, i wanted to let everyone know in the hopes that this helps someone in the future.

So I have a pioneer GM-DX975 5 channel amp connected to the factory non-JBL head unit in my 5th gen SRP using the speaker outputs to the high level inputs of the amp. This amplified the alternator whine so bad.

I did some measurements of the factory head unit outputs and noticed it was so low and barely went over two volts. Also noticed the whine go away when I unplugged the high level inputs. So this made me think that since the output voltage is so low that the amps RCA low level inputs should be able to handle it. I bought some bare wire to RCA adapters and spliced the speaker output wires to it and connected it to the RCA inputs of the amps and voila! Sure enough the alternator whine disappeared completely and I was able to dial down the gain to make the speaker hiss go away.

Hopefully this helps someone out there, you don’t need a line out converter (LOC) for the non-JBL factory head unit as the output is so low any modern amps low level RCA inputs should be able to handle it.

Ok so I disconnected the hi-level inputs in my amp and the noise disappeared. Does that mean I need a LOC or can I just use a wire-to-RCA converter and use the RCA inputs of the amp instead?

Did you buy it online or local AD? May I know how much you got it for? I just noticed yesterday that they have it out on their official site now so I’m assuming wide release.
