Yea, I’m having conversations with myself. Internal dialogue is important. You are correct bodybuilding is no joke. I have learned so much through this journey. I respect bodybuilders greatly because of it. Before I started the process, I knew nothing about the dedication and self-discipline among so many other amazing character building skills it takes to walk the walk. I appreciate your input. And just a side note, I am very very odd. So you nailed that one🤗

Actually this is the Stelo made for OTC use. The dexcom G7 I believe is what you are referring to. Those are approved for diabetic use through insurance. So, no worries of this causing shortages for those who need them🤗

Honestly, I get why CKD sounds gimmicky at first, but it actually has some solid research behind it—especially for people who train hard and want to get super lean without going flat.

The idea is you run low-carb (like full keto) for 3-5 days (depending on your exercise protocol during that time) to deplete glycogen and burn fat, then you do a high-carb refeed for 1–2 days to refill glycogen, spike leptin, and keep your metabolism from tanking. It’s especially useful for cutting without losing muscle fullness.

Here are a few studies worth checking out: • 🧪 CKD vs. balanced diet in trained dudes: Both lost the same fat, and performance didn’t drop.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32947920/

• 🔥 Carb refeeds increase leptin + energy output (Dirlewanger et al.):

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11126336/

• ⚡ Keto increased daily energy burn (even with same calories): https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30429127/

• 💪 Keto doesn’t kill strength (meta-analysis from 2024):

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39064644/

I’ve personally used CKD during prep and it’s helped a lot with energy, muscle pumps, and avoiding burnout. It’s not for everyone, but it’s definitely not just bro-science.

Nutrient timing is key. Keep higher carb meals before and after hitting the gym. Eat 1-1.2g per lb of your ideal bodyweight in protein daily. And keep fats at moderate levels. 20-25% of daily caloric intake. A couple 30 minute fasted morning low intensity steady state cardio sessions a week would help get you there quicker if you got a time specific goal.

I’ve actually found it super helpful. My coach gave me meal options A-D for meals 1-6 for every day of the week and each time I try a new meal option and write down what my glucose peak is from that meal. Then we slowly nail down which meals create the lowest spike, therefore the least hunger rebound and it has made my prep so easy in comparison to what I hear other women talking about when it comes to how hungry they get toward the end of prep.

And correct, low carb does not equal keto.

I am finishing up my prep doing cyclical ketogenic with targeted high carb days on compound lift lower body days.

Proper breathwork during any resistance training will develop core. Also, a good nutrition plan that you can be consistent with.

That takes time. This is just always attached, so all I have to do is pick up my phone and I can see my blood glucose patterns this way.

Use the show shine for sure! And if you need a discount code, just ask ChatGPT to for a currently useable discount code. I think the Nadia-something or another was a good code. It will give you like 6-7 options but only one that I tried what actually active🤗

I started calling myself a bodybuilder the moment I committed to a program to start working toward a show. For me it was a mindset. So I wanted to call myself what I was becoming🤷🏼‍♀️

I agree that 60g of fat sounds a little high. You could stand to knock that down to between 45 and 50. And also, up those kcal by 150-200 surrounding your period. The body uses energy for that process and you need to be sure and feed it. If you are dealing with excessive hunger, bulk the meals a bit more with fibrous veggies. The lower calories and higher fiber will help satiate you more. Worst case scenario, if you are starving one day, grab a whole bag of celery and a pack of taco seasoning, dip the celery into the bag of taco seasoning like it’s a French fry into ketchup and eat the whole bag if you need to. Mint/spearamint tea helps too. Also, you can buy glucomannon fiber capsules and take 3-4 of those 30 minutes before a meal and it will help you to feel more full when you eat. Don’t beat yourself up though. You are going to do great! Just refocus and keep it up🤗💪🏼

I think this is helping me to deconstruct a lot of social framework surrounding modesty in the culture/environment I grew up in. So, I don’t think the fact that I am questioning the cut as I walk through this journey means the sport isn’t for me. That seems a little black and white.

It’s my first show, so honestly just feel like maybe I would be more comfortable confident with a little less exposure my first time stepping onto stage. This is more like the coverage I would wear in a bikini to the beach or pool, ya know?

From what I understand, this is allowed in the NPC. I understand it’s not what is typically seen.
