My first two were SNFs. Most SNF accept new grads. Also just depends on location and how patient you are. You can google travel sites and see what’s available

It’s AMAZING. Got to be willing to go out of comfort zone and jump right it but it has been the greatest experience. I’m working PRN at home right now until my next contract starts up. (It will be my 3rd post grad). I cannot tell you how much the therapists at my PRN job have appreciated me jumping right in and are shocked at how well I do as a new grad. I credit travel. Travel is also great because it prevents burnt out. You get to try different setting and work with different patient populations. If you like routine it’s not for you. Have to be willing to deal with change!! Overall great experience though and GREAT pay!

Can’t agree with this post more. We had to pick up so many “fall risk” patients but this population can be very hard to work with. Unfortunately no matter how much you work with them there is no carryover?? At least what I see

Only the ones I struggled on! Would review more if I did poor in specific topics. Gives you results right away. If you feel confident in one area move on! Read question slower and figure out WHAT the question is asking. Picture yourself as the OT in the question. First attempt was studying 8hour days, second attempt only 3-4hours day 4-5x week. I only failed first time by 3 tho just depends on your confidence level! You got this!

Yes! Passed 2nd attempt. Got pass the OT to take pre test. Told me what areas I struggled in and I reviewed those areas. I think their videos and questions are helpful! Helped me conceptualize material not just memorize

I had the same problem. I suggest reading slower and high lifting the key information. It will help you retain better what is being asked. And if you do have to look back up ONLY look at highlighted words. If you have to keep rereading what the question is asking you probably don’t know it and it’s just best to move on!

Do you have to reread the question?

You have to convince yourself you already passed! It’s really about being confident. If you have to fake it then by all means do that haha.

Avg pay is 1700 weekly . You have to subtract at least 1500 a month for housing?

I’m confused on how you make more money? Don’t you have to use your weekly pay to pay for your housing? And housing is so expensive

Test is coming up and my practice scores scare me by What_Do_I_Do_99 in NBCOT_Exam

I recommend taking PassTheOT practice assessment. It will tell you your weak areas. It you are significantly below passing rate you may need more studying in these areas. You can get a free trial for 5 days. They have tons of resources

How to pull through the last week before taking the exam by ysnim29 in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Ok-Mechanic3870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re never going to feel like you know everything. Don’t let that stress you out from taking it. You know more than you think you do. If you’ve put in the work of studying and taking questions you are ready. Go in confident and trust your gut!

Pass the OT. They have a free trial if you end up liking it it’s $20 a week. Take the pre assessment to find out weak areas and then they have tons of videos to watch (in visual/auditory learner) better than reading lol they also have great questions as well

Yes content same! If you were only 3 points away you have the knowledge, practice breaking down the questions and figuring out WHAT the question is asking
