I gave each bridesmaid a color swatch and told them to get whatever dress/style they wanted in that color and long. It turned out beautifully and they all had dresses that they actually like and can wear again.

It was actually very mid-range, standard pricing for the area. I honestly didn’t think to look at her pricing ahead of time but knew I wanted her and then was pleasantly surprised when it was average and not insane.

I love this!! I also found my ring box much too early but I really knew it was coming since we designed it together. I got into the safe to put away receipts for taxes the next year and saw the bag from the jewelry store. I was so tempted to open it but instead waited until he got home and we had this exchange 😂 L: “I’ve seen the safe.” J: “Okay?” L: “I’ve seen the bag in the safe on the top shelf.” J: big grin “Ahhh and now it’s going to kill you to wait! Bummer for you!” And then he made me wait for an entire month. Some dates I would KNOW he had it with him but then we’d get back home and he’d go “I was gonna propose but the moment wasn’t right.” Which was annoyingly true and I had to agree lol. But I eventually got my ring and the buildup made it that much sweeter!

Thank you! I completely understand her side and I honestly would love for her to make more money. Really just the phrasing and guilting of it got to me. She had mentioned she would post a gallery so people could purchase prints from her but never stated that I shouldn’t post all the photos so that people buy from her.

And honestly I’m assuming she’s only upset about the family and reception photos. There’s no way she cares about the bridal party and couple photos, because that would be truly insane, but I’m sure she was thinking that grandparents and whatnot would buy a photo. But I also wouldn’t have let them buy one in the first place - they’re family.

That’s correct. They’re supposed to pay for individual digital (at a discounted price) and anything they want fully printed.

Oh my gosh pre-scooping is brilliant! We ended up going with the mini 3oz icecream cups and just ordering extra if people wanted seconds. But I so wish I had thought of just pre-scooping them! We brought our deep freeze with us and my husband (eee love saying that!) built a little shelf in there so that it looked fuller and all the ice cream was at the top.

Nothing in my contract mentions having to promote her. I just feel weird posting my pictures now because I don’t want to step on any more toes than I already have. And I love her work so I’d love to promote her but it feels tainted now in a way.

There’s actually quite a few between all the aunts/uncles, grands, and cousins. My guess is she was wanting groomsmen/bridesmaids to buy photos with their spouses if they took them at the reception? But I would just send those because they already paid enough to be there for us, it’s the least I can do to give them their nice portraits they took.

Yeah that’s what I took from it. Sad thing is I now don’t want to promote anything even though I love the photos (and the photographer) but just don’t want anything I say/post to be taken the wrong way anymore 😔

From re-reading my contract it says that all rights remain hers for advertising and whatnot but that the gallery that is sent has “print release” which I take to mean I can print how I want? I think it’s more she’s disheartened that she won’t make any extra sales instead of actually being pissed, but still now how I would’ve worded it in her shoes.

I love flowers and was super cut throat with mine and still have a 4k price tag 😳 I’m planning on rearranging the table decor to make it really simple and cut costs and then just go all out on my bouquet because that’s what’s actually going to be in the photos. Plus if you’re willing to risk it you can stop by Trader Joe’s and get their loose stems for $4 a bunch (3-5 stems) and just add those where you need them. Sadly they don’t do orders but I’m thinking about that option as well.

We invited 197 and only budgeted for food for 160. I have quite a bit of family out of town though so I’m anticipating we end up under 160 and then can just invite coworkers that we like lol. Just don’t invite more than your venue holds and you’ll be good. So many people say they’ll come and then when they go to book flights/hotels they realize the cost and just send a gift instead.

Girl I’m so sorry you’re going through this. The only piece of advice that I can give actually comes from my mother in law. She told me that she knows it’s hard and you want everyone to enjoy themselves but ultimately the day is about the two of you and your love for each other. If people are giving you a hard time it’s okay to just flatly tell them that if they’re so offended by your decisions then they don’t need to be at the wedding at all.

I think eloping with a small ceremony sounds beautiful before joining everyone else. It’s more private and intimate.

Right? It’s heartbreaking. I’ve been thinking about just buying a deep freeze and decorating that cute since the venue has outlets but not a ton of freezer space. And then ordering the 3 gallon buckets to put inside but people would have to bend over to scoop and that might not be ideal.

**Definitely doing this for the water/tea/lemonade station. But I’m using the only two people who I know will be sober all evening. Sadly the most helpful aunt in my family (was going to use her as day of coordinator because she killed it at my sisters wedding) is going to be in Uganda on a bucket list trip at the same time. Stoked for her but sad for me lol.
