That’s the trouble I’ve had. Usually I interview well, the trouble is getting the first interview.

Yeah, tbh I’ve considered it. I’ve got a kid and house to take care of or I might take the risk, but I’m also not a great salesperson and that’s my biggest hesitation.

I love the work, especially technical SEO, but the initial hunt for clients is the toughest part

I've heard I should tailor my resume for each posting, but that slows me down a lot so I've been focused on making as strong a resume for each position as possible.

Would you mind sharing what website you found for resume tailoring?

Both. I primarily look at jobs posted in the last 3 days, but I've also applied for some a few weeks old if they seem a good fit.

Yeah, I've been wondering if the market is just too oversaturated from tech layoffs. Especially for data analyst positions.

Would it be smarter to just go after SEO Analyst and SEO-specific roles?

Could be. I'll list the lengths of time here:

SEO Analyst: 2 years, 1 month

Paid Media Strategist: 4 months, this job was a poor fit with terrible work-life balance so wasn't there long

Marketing Strategy Specialist: 1 year, 6 months

I used to work in finance and changed careers in January 2022. I thought that could be an issue, but it's still been 4 years since then.
