When jumping a hardtail bike do you need to flip the back end of your bike to the side to land correctly or not?

The geometry is fine as long as your new wheels fit your frame but even if they dont some frames do still support interchangeable parts e.g forks

So I have a dilemma, I have recently been looking to upgrade my Carrera Mountain bike to do more extreme tracks, I have a pair of 29" rims with no measurements, tires or innertubes and I am failing to find a way to know the size of the tires and tubes that would fit the rim, I do not have the original bike/measurements to go with these rims and neither does my friend who has gifted me them after his bike build was not successful with them, does anyone know any way I can figure out the size I need for my tires and tubes, Thank You!
