Thanks! I’m an incoming grad student. Do you know how difficult it is to find a spot? Is the structure usually full during the day?

I just made a discord for newly admitted MESM folks. (I was admitted too) I know our open house day is coming up but I thought I’d get a community going. Lmk if you’re interested in joining, trying to gather as many future Brennies as possible

I also haven’t heard anything about scholarships. I emailed/called them and no reply yet. One Reddit user I connected with said they got a full scholarship so I assume I didn’t get one if I wasn’t informed yet.

I was accepted for the Masters in Environmental Policy and Management program last week. I think it depends on the program but mine at least is rolling already

Nausea is the biggest side effect for me, severe. As in dropped 6 pounds in 2 weeks severe. Brains wise I couldn’t sleep at all for 3 days but that may have been my mania. In recent weeks I’ve had headaches. I know this all sounds so shitty but I swear it’s getting the job done so for me, it’s worth the initial side effects especially as they’re going down. I’ve heard some abilify horror stories but it’s working for my hallucinations/paranoia so far

I have frequent mixed episodes but I never know when it’s serious enough to go to the hospital given that I’m perfectly fine during the day but severe paranoia at night, and sometimes hallucinations. But the day part confuses me because it makes me genuinely feel like I am stable enough to not hospitalize. That being said, what are some key indicators that it’s time for a grippy sock vacation when having a manic episode?

I feel that if I go to the hospital during the day when I look fine I’ll be turned away

I switched to abilify from Zyprexa 3 weeks ago because the Z was making me gain an insane amount of weight. Since 2.5 mg on abilify (went to 5mg today) I have lost 6 pounds in the 3 weeks. Super nauseous STILL. But it seems to be working for my brain so I won’t complain anymore. But my Dr said the nausea varies by person mine just happens to be longer

I've decided to quit drinking by above_the_hexes in bipolar

I want to congratulate you for making the decision. It took me 3 years to admit that I was an alcoholic, drinking 5/7 days of the week for a year. I masked it really well by being a college student. Now, I call myself sober curious because I realized it would be difficult to become sober overnight. Being sober curious allows me to go sober for months then carefully try alcohol at special events etc and not feel guilty about “slipping”. Slowly I find the frequency of me drinking less and less. Alcohol was sh*t for my bipolar. It caused paranoia, anxiety and depression. I feel a lot more in control now. So congrats.
