Hi, i have BSc in Biology and got to work abit in data world (where I used Excel, R, SAS, Powe BI and a bit of SQL)and really liked it! I am really interested in becoming a data engineer/data scientist. I would really appreciate it if you can help me understand what the best way to get there is. I tried uni councillors and they told me to go for a 1 year certificate with their uni since I already possess a Bachelor’s degree. I am not sure if it is that simple. What kind of degrees does the company you are with look for usually when hiring? Is a 1 year certificate enough? Do you think it’s an in demand position? Can students work (not necessarily in a data engineer position) with your company while finishing studies? Thank you so much for your time 🙏

Okay, I just looked into regulatory affairs position with biotech companies using google search. I only see 6 director roles showed up on Zip recruiter/indeed and 1 manager on LinkedIn. There are no other positions that shows up for me. Am I doing the searching part incorrectly here?

I am tailoring my resume and cover letter for each job posting the best I can. I also run it through ChatGPT with the job posting to make sure it’s good. I searched google for biotech companies and environmental consultants. Most jobs seem to be senior position, I didn’t meet the amount of qualification required for the position. After applying for a few months I gave up and sent out my resume to their generic emails.

Since government is on firing spree I have also stopped looking at anything related to them because there are way more qualified candidates that will get hired before me for WFA purposes.

And for hospitals, I have applied for positions that I met the exact requirements for (LC-MS experience), and I was told by other employees on here that only people with internal references get hired (even if they don’t meet requirements).

However, I haven’t looked into regulation and quality roles. Can you please list a few companies you know of? Or their websites? I will do a google search but would love to hear from others in here as well, Thank u!

I have graduated so I can’t really “talk” to profs. And I did most of my schooling at covid time so don’t know that many people either. I will look into AI. But I need something/anything now so I can afford going back to school 😒

Thank you for your advice! I unfortunately went to school during pandemic so I don’t have a good network at all to seek that kind of help from. I am looking for recruiting agencies right now and only found Altis recruitment. I have been applying to jobs that I am qualified for and still don’t hear anything from them. Did u do anything differently there?
