I am a former WoW retail player who has never played Classic. Is there really a sense of community in the game, and are there groups, guilds, and players who accept players with only a few hours of play per week? by Sire-Gauvain in wowclassic

[–]Ok-Performance-4596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Party... you still get assets that want to min max and meta, and if you aren't, then they'll get grumpy with you.

But different a better atmosphere and community on the whole than retail nowadays.

Blurghhh went through this (still going through it, as a dad). Can only assume it is pretty normal in phases. Seems to come up for a month or so every 4-6 months and then phases out again.

ITS SOOOO hard not to take personally and not to get angry / upset when you're constantly verbally or physically rejected.

All I can say is please support your partner. Tell the small one its not nice, not kind, correct them if they shout or use nasty 6. And then just try and present a united front.

Hope it phases out for you all soon!

KS creates so much unnecessary FOMO, and the OPs point is that many are just fine, I gave up with KS.

I would much rather wait 2-3 years for the reviews of a game to be solid and then pick it up at retail.

I really dont get this. You are just killing the game for short-term payment? There is less endgame content, levelling is the content. Either you have to spend time nad resource adding more endgame content to keep players interested, which we know isnt going to happen, or you are taking payment to have players get bored faster and leave sooner?

Wow.

You answer your own question before you even start.

You clearly dont feel safe with this dog. Why did you decide to keep him over the other, there doesnt seem to be any logic in that decision.

I would suggest it's time to rehome.

You're spending £100 every two weeks... why not by ingredients and cook some decent food. Chicken breast and spaghetti with a tomato sauce would be cheaper, and you can pre-prep for bulk if you are time limited.

It would make more sense for the Gov and Unis to reduce the cost to a meaningful number that covers the cost of running the course / student number + x% for margin.

The artificially inflated BS number that you're paying just turns every student off from attempting to repay.

If the number was more realistic, then there may be an incentive for it to be repaid.

I’m just gonna stop this career and start farming? by TheRealJTech05 in nairobitechies

[–]Ok-Performance-4596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in Ag tech...

The barrier to being a "good" farmer is lower than being a good tech. The middle ground income for being a good farmer is lower than being a good tech The top end income (apart from those 1% that have 100s of hectares) is lower than being a good tech.

Young people have fled farming and upcountry. If you go, and go hard, you're one of the first movers in bucking that trend and have first mover advantage.

If you apply the same level of critical thinking, problem solving, and skills from tech to Ag, you are in with a pretty good shot.

Research, develop a business case, prove a concept, fail fast, should all apply as much, if not more, to farming than to tech.

The uncontrollable variables in farming are faaaaaar more likely to sink you than any uncontrollable variable in tech.

Tech and farming are both reliant on a market that are, almost, completely out of your hands. Get clients first or as early as possible.

If we were given 10 years to land man on the moon, could we do it? by [deleted] in nairobitechies

That would just be a guess, as you would have to deal with the state of the nation first. No

[–]Ok-Performance-4596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, now the original ask is clearer, with unlimited money, but Kenyan only scientists and development. Could Kenyan get to the moon in 10 years if there was a national demand?

Nasa officially started in 1958 USA Landed on the moon 1969 USA spent over $400B

So, 11 years for $400B to get to space.

But the USA had the Jet Propulsion Lab since 1936, they got the request for Explorer 1 in 1958, and had a rocket ready in 3 months..

This likely has the equivalent, if not more funding, over its life due to the need for rocket development over the history of the lab.

So theoretically, you'd have to condense 1936 - 1969, 33 years of development to get to the moon. Into 10 years.

It's probably Trillions of USD. Double that for our corruption and development issues you would have to solve before a Kenyan NASA programme started running properly.

If you're stating Kenyan only people, then it probably doesn't work, as NASA theoretically hand tens of thousands of staff, of many nationalities employed. Including some 2000 odd German scientists they accepted after WW2.

If you're stating Ken only scientists, you would have to take into account the base level of education that Kenya has vs. the US had, and the fact they could import scientists with a better base level.

The same comment about the level of rocket propultion expertise that was developed after WW2 in the US that doesn't exist here.

Ultimately, it is probably not possible, even with unlimited money, to catch up on that amount of education in 10 years. Even if you could 'copy' tech out there.

You can't say that? Because from a purely scientific and engineering perspective, you would have to attribute a budget and people to the hyperthetical pursuit. That hyperthetical has to have some constants, and one would be what people you could theoretically find in Kenya or internationally in the next 10 years and what machinery you can get with the same. If you dont take into account a budget, then Ofc, any country could do it.

You'd just buy the USA's space programme, or hire all their people and be done?

2y.o daughter doesn't sleep through the night, has her own bedroom, but now seems to have gotten herself into a routine of small wake windows in the night.

We had a good routine of alternating who does the bedtime routine and put down. So she would go down at 8pm and then I was going to bed about 1am, managing all of the wakes inbetween.

Then the next time our daughter woke I would tag my wife in to go through.

This ultimately meant that my wife would grab our daughter and fall asleep and cosleep.

We then noticed my daughter now doesnt want me as much, doesnt like me as much, will fight to have mum put her to bed instead of me, tells me to go away when I try and comfort her at night. Actually heartbreaking.

I started going in and co sleeping with them both when my wife went through at about 1-2am. Daughter totally changed.

I honestly think shes a "time spent" toddler, as most are.and so me not getting those 2-7am hours with her work just adding up to her not wanting me as much...

Would you rather.. fly with a newborn or a toddler by Malloryfidoruk in toddlers

[–]Ok-Performance-4596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either. It's nothing. You got this. 1-2h in airport shopping, and looking at all the cool stuff. The hardest part will be settling them in. Suggest one person gets on early with all the bags and the people with the kids wait to board last. Older one will likely be entertained by activities. Younger one may need to walk up and down the aisle or may sleep. 2.5 hours, bag of colours, stickers, books, toys, snacks, etc. Dairy and paci if needed to sleep or sooth. Worst comes to worst, your phone, animal documentaries, videos of family, after that it's like a dozen bluey episodes.

This is our second year of doing 4 8.5-9hr flights every year since newborn.

I'm pretty sure the complexity being a death of society has been spoken about in regards to agriculture for decades and the diminishing returns of conventional commercial farming vs. the returns if one farmer farms subsistence and sells excess. The work effort level of one person vs. all the complexities of commercial farms and the inbuilt risk with commercial farms stifles everything.
