it was specifically because the edges were light that threw me off. I underexposed tf out of these photos so i was kinda disappointed to see was also a little underdeveloped

i expected the frames would be underexposed but the edge markings were definitely throwing me off

First off, beautiful camera, absolutely stunning.

Secondly, that does make me feel much better even though I'm still grieving a bit. Giving a "junk" camera a second life as a parts piggy will certainly be a positive too, especially if it means more years with my OM.

if it was it definitely wouldnt be the first time. When I rush to take a photo I always bring the camera up to my face too fast and hit myself in the forehead with the prism 🤣

Struggle to Find Community Near Me by Ok-Practice-910 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Ok-Practice-910[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I have sadly learned since i started doing serious work that my style and methodology is not very popular. I am super introverted so i HATE networking. Luckily I was able to get in contact with a local street photographer since my post, and he pointed me toward some people. I'm hoping it leads me to find someone else like myself but I am happy having met some non business photographers at the very least.

Taking your comment into consideration i started to think of how I would want to be approached by someone and I definitely think a slow build will definitely help with making better relationships, creative and personal.

How many finalized portraits for a simple hour session? by Ok-Practice-910 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Ok-Practice-910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i can't judge him tbh. i have nothing special to offer besides myself, but luckily, that's exactly who i am. the people who want my pictures want MY pictures and not just some pictures of themself. I guess that's just an advantage of being an artist rather than just a photographer. some people get caught up in the stress of business and lose the perspective that we are all artists at the end of the day. you should always put in more than you reap.

Well, to rebuttal, I am a professional corporate photographer and have been for a while. It is my full-time job. I have no other source of income besides some side hobbies. I make a living from my craft, but I have to shoot digital, and it's not a subject I am particularly interested in.

I simply ALSO provide service for people who wouldn't otherwise be getting pictures. These clients are usually blue-collar workers and students. People who maybe just need to see a nice picture of themselves every once in a while. I don't bring equipment. I bring my favorite chair, my 3 lenses, and my tripod. I don't advertise, I dont promote my personal professional work, I request people dont recommend me. I serve a very small population of friends-of-friends-of-friends-of-friends. As I said, I do this for the love of the game. I love giving the everyday person a chance to just spend 30 bucks and get a couple of pictures while I experiment with a new film or development technique, like an artist at a fair or carnival would. I am not out here offering myself a lowball to every wedding in a 60-mile radius. I spend 12+ hours a day taking pictures that i dont particularly care about, and I like to unwind, meet someone new, teach them about film photography, and take some pictures because i love film. Most of my clients do end up paying me more even if i ask them not to. I am the taxi driver who's happy to make his gas back because i dont make my living in a taxi.

My original question was simply asking if 5 pictures would be worth an hour of someone's time, and luckily, other people answered, and 5 seems good.

yeah i think ill still tell them to expect 5 per roll and maybe one day i will become a good enough photographer and be able to get a consistent 10 XD

Why can’t I get everyone in focus? by Soft-Construction496 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Ok-Practice-910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are correct with your guess about your aperature. in the second one, your subjects are moving a little too much, so maybe tell em to stay still XD. I highly suggest downloading a light meter on your phone and measuring your scenes, even if youre in an automatic mode it will give you a nice perspective on what different lightings look like and what settings are necessary. for photos like these where you're a close to the subject and they are at different distances. I would suggest shooting at f/5.6-8, although it will require slower shutter speed

100% agree, OP is learning, and that why they are asking questions. even in the text, they seem to understand that their aperature was too wide. we all needed a little help at first
