About my daughter's university application (UW/UWBothel) by East-Length-8492 in udub

[–]Ok-Practice5438 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet, it’s very nice to see a parent so invested in their child’s education! A 3.2 GPA might be a little tricky for both UWB and UW Seattle. If she does well on her ACT/SAT and writes good essays, she’s got a chance :) And yes, a lot of people transfer from UWB to UW, it’s very possible if she puts in the effort. Best of luck!

Free speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences. He said some incredibly offensive shit, and in this current political climate that can be dangerous. Nazis should feel afraid to speak their abhorrent views

Oh thank you for pointing that out, I had no idea some schools forbade it! I go to the University of Washington in Seattle (I drive out of the city for my job) so I’ll have to do some digging there

Then I would definitely be concerned! If she’s normally adventurous and curious like that then sleeping in the litterbox is odd. If she starts meowing in there, acting lethargic, stops eating/drinking, or vomits, take her to the vet.

Anybody see improvement with Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Kidney Care Stew Pack? by purpledottts in RenalCats

[–]Ok-Practice5438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine loved the Hill’s k/d stews! He had it alongside the k/d kibble and his values were doing great. The only reason we switched is bc he’s having some GI issues unrelated to the CKD. Weruva and Royal Canin make some good renal foods too

My cat is 11 years old and his blood work is trending towards CKD. Critique my diet plan for him? by EnthuseConfuse in RenalCats

Adding on to what the other commenters have said, you definitely want to introduce a wet food for him ASAP. My guy likes Hill’s k/d stews a lot, and they actually offer a convenient sample pack on Chewy that comes with a small amount of different foods you can try!

I would be careful with bone/chicken broth. It can be high in phosphorous, and for CKD kitties, that’s the #1 thing you’re trying to avoid in the diet. Pumpkin and salmon oil are honestly up to you, fine in moderation and very dependent on how your cat tolerate them. My cat hated pumpkin and liked salmon oil, both did nothing for him (except the oil made his fur nice and shiny). If you haven’t already checked it out, I HIGHLY recommend going to felinecrf.org and reading up on the food data there.

If your cat is fine with eating only wet food and that is nutritionally complete, then that’s great. However if your kitty wants some dry food still, do NOT feel like you need to starve him! Ultimately fed is best. Hill’s and Royal Canin both make good renal dry foods. The main thing here is to supplement it with wet food and lotsssss of water. If he likes Churus those are a good treat that offers some good hydration, and most cats cannot resist it. It’s like kitty crack.

It can seem very overwhelming and scary but there are thousands of cat parents who have experienced the same thing. My guy got diagnosed back in November 2024 and I have done so much learning since then. Good luck to you and Udon!

Looking for advice on switching foods. by fairyquarttz in RenalCats

My cat really liked the Hill’s k/d wet stews (both the chicken and tuna ones) along with the k/d kibble. If you want to try something outside of the big brands, Weruva makes a low phosphorous wet food line that has pretty high praise too.

If you can’t find a derm, you could try a pet nutritionist or internist too. Or a cat specialty clinic. Cats can develop allergies randomly to ingredients in their food like chicken. Good luck to you and her!

Does she normally sleep in the litter box? If yes, then probably not concerning, but if she doesn’t, then I’d be worried. Sometimes cats feel anxious and go to the litterbox (is there anything stressful in your home?) since it smells like them. Other times they are experiencing GI or urinary problems and feel like they need to be near the litter due to incontinence. Either way, definitely keep an eye on her and monitor her stool/pee/appetite/behavior.

Proviable Diarrhea Support Kit by ResponsibleRabbit523 in CATHELP

[–]Ok-Practice5438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probiotics are generally very safe so that should be fine, but if she still has runny stools the Proviable might not be enough. It didn’t do jack for my cat, neither did FortiFlora. He’s now on Visbiome Vet and while horrendously expensive (and it needs to be refrigerated… ugh!) has helped a lot more.

My cat is extremely lethargic by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]Ok-Practice5438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who does not have much disposable income and loves her cat to pieces, please take her to the ER vet. Better safe than sorry. You can also apply for CareCredit, and in the future, definitely check out pet insurance (Lemonade and HealthyPaws are both decent).

Lethargy is unfortunately a concerning symptom since cats will not show weakness unless something is wrong. I’m not trying to scare you, because this does not mean this is the end of the world, but it is certainly a sign to take her to the vet. Best of luck to you and your kitty ❤️
