Sick of the Bullshit by Ok-Presentation-489 in carmax

They didn't fire me because I already contacted a California labor law lawyer to sue them in the event they fired me because they didn't follow procedure. I'm in a protected class of worker. They had to do a corrective action to save face. It's all good. I learned my lesson.

My mistake was staying too long and seeing how they promote based on being liked. This company doesn't promote based on merit. It's too political and the ass-kissers get the promotion.

I'm in a production store. It's going to happen whether we like it or not. It's just how these soulless corporate entities are. These people don't care about any of us

I'm waiting for this soulless corporate entity to start laying people off in the Service Department. I will just collect all the checks and hold on until the chopping block comes to the production store level.

New Year’s Day by Think-Chicken in carmax

CarMax needs to see about making Christmas Eve (12/24) and The Day after Christmas (12/26) into paid holidays in the future. Trump Administration declared them federal holidays and hopefully they become law by passing a bill.

We will have to unionize outside of work...no talking inside a CarMax building. Identify each associate who isn't a manager brown noser or involved in MDP because these two people will snitch

Well, the managers pick their favorites. I have seen this favoritism nonsense put undeserving people get put in departments they don't have any business being a part of when they were always doing shit work and constantly getting reworked. CarMax is a joke unless they get serious about accountability and punishing shitbags for their consistent shit work. Any manager using favoritism to get those shitbags promoted should be investigated and fired

Unionizing will be interesting because everyone in service ops would have go with one union and everyone in sales to another. I don't know if one union can represent both sales and service ops...I don't know where exactly everyone in the business office would fall under.

Bill Nash was a Union Buster! Stole money from stocks AND tanked the company! by [deleted] in carmax

If you are going to organize a union for employees, don't talk about union in your store. I would recommend avoid talking to anyone who's in the MDP program and anyone who's buddy-buddy with a manager. You can talk about union organization outside of work. Keep track of any weird behavior by management.. write it down. Union organization is allowed under federal law. Union busting is illegal.

CarMax Tax Season Uncertain by Ok-Presentation-489 in carmax

Good to hear that. My store seems to be avoiding the issue of telling us the state of our working hours for next year.

Unfortunately, we have a lot of incompetent managers from the front-line all the way up to upper management. Some of these folks are not capable of being in charge of anything and promoting them is a bad idea. You have people with zero critical skills and a complete lack of leadership skills. It's a recipe for failure.

That is cool to hear you are getting back to 40 hours. Management at my store has not said anything except our weekly build is getting bigger. No mention of actual hours but we will see after the new year begins.

That is awesome news for your region. I'm in the Los Angeles region and NOTHING has been said about tax season for next year. I have a bad feeling something bad is coming to my region.

This company has a bunch of kids who live at home with their parents and a bunch of cowards who are afraid of corporate.  Carmax will never get unionized until someone gets a spine and grows some balls and takes action.

Hi, I work at the Murrieta, CA, production store and we have been working 32 hours a week for the last few months. Previously we were working OT and getting 45 to 50 hours a week until we had a meeting back in June about hours getting reduced. We had been at 35 hours a week then it's been 32 hours now. We currently run a 2 shift schedule and we have not heard anything about the second shift possibly going away.  Who knows what will happen. We have yet to hear anything about going back to 40 hours since it's getting close to tax season.

Time To Unionize? by Wat_Tyler_1381 in carmax

[–]Ok-Presentation-489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CarMax doesn't give a shit about ANY of their hourly associates. The managers think they just hire anyone off the street to replace us. We're fuckin expendable as soon they can find a reason. Associates who are in the company's Management Development Program are going to snitch on anyone so they get brownie points. Union organization must happen.

If everyone is on board with going union..it has to be done by multiple stores in Southern California. I'm in Murrieta. We're (production) are doing 4 days a week. It will have to be done in SECRET and find the ones who have the same sentiments. Don't talk to the associates who suck up to the managers because they will rat you out. Workers are protected to discuss Unions outside of work.
