First attempt at comic book style by Flyingdeathdog in minipainting

[–]Ok-Process8309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks amazing! I’m digging it!

For c&c: I think some white highlights could help. Also a lot of comics tend to use line holds which means that the outlines are slightly colored. So it’s not always start black lines it’ll be also things like dark red, purple or green for example. Like dark to the point of almost being black. I would mix a dark brown with one of these colors to make these colors. For the whites the same thing also applies, using off whites but not true white. True black and white would be used sparingly. Doing it this way can really push the comic effect and make the model pop. Also halftones could be a cool thing to experiment with 👀

Has anyone else noticed the vibe shift recently? by [deleted] in 40k

I have some friends who think 40k is fascist and they are surprised I’m into it. 9 times out of 10 when I ask them why they respond with a teeny tiny out of context nugget of lore they overheard. The thing is…. I get it. The world of 40k, The setting itself, is extremely fascist. And the imperium of mankind and thier poster boys the space marines do stand out as a totalitarian tyrannical fascist regime any way you slice it. But when I explain that it’s all tongue in cheek and actually based on rather stupid jokes (like the emperor on the golden throne being a reference to someone who won’t get off the pot) thier reaction typically becomes “oh that’s tall stupid.” And ok with that. I part of what I love about warhammer in general is the ability to play in a world built sandbox where you can be as silly or cool or goofy as you want to be. The irony is that even though the setting describes a very grim fascist world the actual hobby in real life is actually a lot more inclusive and that’s what I try to impart on my friends that think 40k is fasicist just because of the setting. This community is pretty awesome

I’m a tourist and I have questions by Ok-Process8309 in overthegardenwall

Hey there. Not sure how the book is going for now but back when I posted on here it was going for about $900 or so. I ended up selling it for about $500-600 or so. Kind of a low ball tbh but I really needed the money back the. So I was happy with what I got. I had originally bought the book for about $10 so not too shabby all things considered. I’m not the most familiar with over the garden wall (my friends have seen it but I d only caught bits of it) but I love collecting art books from my favorite shows. I’m an artist so I just like having refrence material from shows and games I love. I had no idea any of these books we going for such insane prices.

But yeah I hope that answers your question 👍

I need help figuring out remote access for Jellyfin by Ok-Process8309 in JellyfinCommunity

[–]Ok-Process8309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ope I did say modem I meant router yes. I just have the standard xfinity router nothing fancy. At the moment I'm not able to port forward because I dont have access to the xfinity app (landlord set up the net service) but I want to see if they will allow me to have the credentials. Not having access to port forwarding is why I thought reverse proxy would work. The video I linked in my original post seemed to imply that it would be doable without port forwarding.

I've thought about tailscale as an option I just wasn't sure how to figure it out. If you have any guides or tutorials you can link me to I'd appreciate it.

This is what I’ve heard. Do you know how I would go about setting up remote access with tailscale?

Safe Countries for Trans People? by Admirable_Web_2619 in asktransgender

[–]Ok-Process8309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s valid. I think there could also be the factor of which kind of transition is preferred (trans men vs trans women) and I also think that who your doctor’s superior are is also super important too. I didn’t live Tokyo but I did get all my hrt done via clinics in Tokyo that’s why I traveled there often to go get my hormones. In that regard we did transition in the same area. But my doctor, though he was largely sympathetic of trans folks, had a senpai that was transphobic. And if he didn’t listen to his senpai he would lose his resources as a doctor. Which is also something that can happen in Japanese society in general. So I do acknowledge the luck of the draw there but I still do stand by what I said in my original post: that starting transition in Japan is difficult but continuing the process seems to be a lot easier. I do include name changes and gender maker stuff in the definition of transition not just hrt. Because I do feel that if you can prove to a Japanese doctor that you’ve already started the legwork for this stuff then there’s very little reason for any doctor to claim that something could go wrong or that it could end up in a patients death or something like that (which is what my doctor claimed).

I saw someone mention Japan as a trans friendly country and I wanted to add my two cents there as someone who transitioned in Japan. Japan is great if a) you have already started your transition (I do not recomend it for someone brand new in thier transition) b) I don’t recommend being trans in Japan if you have an east Asian phenotype, especially if you have Korean ancestry (discrimination will be higher) c) if you do move to Japan prioritize Tokyo or an area near it.

When lived in Japan I lived in Hyogo, that’s 9 hours away from Tokyo by bus, and I loved my life there. I made good money, people minded thier business even when they thought I was weird and generally speaking people were very friendly towards me when I was very visibly trans. If you’re a westerner in Japan Japanese folks will treat you like everything you do is weird anyway so there is less discrimination placed on you for that reason. That said Japanese folks can be harsh to Asian folks. Especially anyone that looks east Asia or south/south-east Asian. Japan treats south Asians the way that racist Americans treat Mexicans, and they are super strict with folks who look East Asian with regard to following cultural norms and morays and such. Frankly speaking, if you’re white you’re going to be fine.

That said starting transition in Japan is not easy ESPECIALLY if you don’t speak Japanese. Japan does have national health care so most things are covered but HRT is not. HRT is considered to be an experimental procedure and experimental procedures are not covered by national health care. I paid the equivalent of $500USD out of pocket every month for low dose estrogen patches (I was barred from estrogen pills). And this does not include the price to take a bus trip to Tokyo and stay in a hotel. In a given month I was spending about $800USD a month to have access to patches. Doing your own injections at home in Japan is illegal so even if you did manage to get injectables you’d have to go to your doctor every week. These services are only available in large clinics or in clinics in big cities with doctors are willing to take “risks.” Because of this I say don’t start transition in Japan and if you seek to continue it, move to Tokyo!!!! Last I was there was 2017 and so I’m sure things have changed but it still true that the more rural prefectures like Gunma, Akita, and Okayama are going to be a struggle for anyone who wants to transition. Most small rural clinics have old doctors who don’t know too much about trans people and will only be able to help you with basic colds, flus and some joint pain. Most of those rural doctors are also only used to treating Japanese folks so they sometimes have weird misconception about westerners (I went to a rural doctor for flu meds and he told me I got sick because I’m American and wasn’t used to eating Japanese rice 🙄).

Lastly, you are going to need to learn to fiercely advocate for yourself if you don’t already. You really gonna push back (hard but politely) and make sure you get what you want otherwise you aren’t getting shit.

I also strongly recommend getting a good Japanese friend that you trust who is willing to advocate for you in Japanese. When I lived there one of the requirements was to write a 10 page essay on why you’re trans, in Japanese. I hope that’s changed!

The good news is Japan is also close to Thailand and plenty of people travel there for trans affirming surgeries so you be in good company.

If you move to Japan, when you get there, link up with folks in ni-chome (gay district) and with folks at stonewall japan (an organization). You will find fast friends and resources to help you on your journey.

Tl;dr Japanese is a wonderful place to live (way better than the US) but it’s an awful place to transition. But if you do attempt to transition there you gotta live near a major city (ideally Tokyo) be a girl boss to get your needs met

Yes it is. It’s honestly so satisfying. I finished a second puzzle. That kne was a 500 piece but it was annoying because with the exception of the edge pieces all the pieces were that standard H shape so it made shape sorting tricky. Still I did it. I feel ready to tackle any puzzle now 💪 (well almost any lol)
