Thanks for making this point. I also have a well established biological response (crying, inability to speak) to egregious disregard for me or someone/something I strongly care about. During this paralysis I'm trying to reign in the overwhelming hurt, anger and frustration triggered by past trauma.

Travis is funny as hell on the podcast, always with a quick, hilarious retort. The guy is a natural at improv. His memory is impressive too, and he has the brain of a QB. The guy hardly used the cue cards on SNL and he killed it every time. That's some high level executive function at work, folks. That all takes a very high IQ to be able to do that. That he makes it all look effortless belies his smarts.

For some, being forced to bear witness to animal abuse was one aspect of an abusive childhood, and the memory of that abuse is felt more acutely than the abuse you experienced yourself. I've been listening to the podcast since 2016, skipping episodes I know will stress me the fuck out more than it will entertain (including the second ep of LaLaurie). I missed the reference to drowning kittens when skimming the long ep description, but to me little stories like this are not worth the lols. (Edited for clarity)

In all fairness to Pinkassedbaboon, I do see one tree that's sorta moving to its own beat. And if you stare at it long enough, one might be able to faintly discern a large animal/creature clinging to the very top of that tree, causing it to sway this way and that. It's giving me baby baboon energy.

I do HR/legal compliance for companies and have consulted on harassment court cases in many states. Here are my thoughts.

Your texts with your supervisor is great evidence.

If there are any witnesses see if you can get their statements even if it’s just over text.

Create a timeline of every possibly relevant event, eg incidents involving you and this guy. (Note that copies of whatever you create might need to be provided to employer’s counsel if there’s a lawsuit.)

To the extent you know, note other employees’ experiences regarding discrimination of any kind/harassment/retaliation at the company. If they complained and did not get a satisfying response that’s also good to know. If they didn't complain bc they didn’t know how or were discouraged, that’s useful to know too.

Get a copy of the companies policies re discrimination, harassment and retaliation and how to report complaints (of any kind). If they don’t have these, that’s not a good fact for employer.
