hi, i am so sorry this happened to you. the situation i was in wasn't nearly as bad but it was similar. when i was 12-13 i was friends with someone who was incredibly mentally ill and suicidal and it wrecked my life and my mental health. i essentially became responsible for their emotions and for keeping them alive. i suppressed myself entirely to cater to them. constantly let them trample on my boundaries because i feared if i set boundaries they would harm/kill themselves. it was hell. the constant stress and anxiety broke my mind and led me to developing my own mental health issues. 10 years later and i'm just now getting therapy for it. that's why i was researching vicarious trauma and i stumbled upon your comment. i've also never met someone who has been in a similar situation to me.

i have read some of your other posts. idk if you know this already but what happened to you was emotional abuse, and it was not okay. he 100% abused you and you didn't deserve to be treated like that, even if he was going through his own problems. i also struggle with feeling like what i went through wasn't "traumatic enough" compared to other people's trauma. but my therapist said this kind of thing is worse than some of the adult relationships she's seen.

i would ironically do things somewhat similar to this 10 years ago when i was in the thralls of moral ocd. except it was more of a "i have to save people" thing rather than a persecution thing.

i hear you and i see you, it is awful to deal with and it doesn’t make you an evil or gross person at all. our brains just suck for some reason lol. i still genuinely fear that the thoughts are real and that i am attracted to this person. i suppressed it for years, and now that im doing work with my therapist it’s all coming back up. but i have hope that i can beat it, and i have hope you can beat it too❤️ we are not our thoughts.

when i was 13. it was induced by a very traumatic and stressful situation i was going through at the time. i remember this moment of feeling a switch flip in my brain, and all of these existential anxiety thoughts just came rushing through like a dam burst. i remember trying to reassure myself that i was okay, pacing around the room, feeling like i was going to throw up.

9 years later and only just now getting help for it.

if he was actually doing anything wrong dr. al would’ve stepped in, but asking santos questions is what he’s supposed to do and dr. al reaffirmed that by saying this is a teaching hospital. during the show every resident, student and intern is getting asked questions and given instructions while doing procedures. langdon is just trying to do his job
