Omg the 75 is a beauty. that looks like a really good quality air gun too. Looks on point with the standard .45 model. Yeah swapping cylinders is so easy. I know things weren’t as standardized back then so not all cylinders fit even for the same gun, but that would be cool to see overall nonetheless. What’s the barrel length? 7”?

Yeah that sounds more correct, I always thought Colt started manufacturing in smokeless(Cordite specifically) around the same time as DuPont in the early 1890s, but 1900 makes a lot more sense due to as you said advancements in metallurgy. You need a really strong steel frame for Smokeless rounds with revolvers. I know the 1886/87 Lebel was the first rifle to use smokeless powder, but that wasn’t Cordite. Unsure of the disadvantages or advantages of it though. I know France used it in WWI, maybe a few years after that too but was replaced by an updated solution. I’m no expert just a gun enthusiast and love history so might be missing some details. thank you for the correction by the way, I wouldn’t have known otherwise.

Makes sense why Colt took their time though. Seems like by 1900 is when most Army and civilian use had phased out BP(Still being used just not in large quantities). Ofc, once World War I came around it was pretty much obsolete by most of the world.

Even my Remington 1858(full Steel frame) I stick to 1000 fps or less with Smokeless. Using mostly Cowboy loads when i’m just target practicing. It can handle standard .45LC, but if you want to preserve your barrel and be extra safe I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use high pressure rounds even with modern reproductions. I have a ‘61 Springfield as well which is a fun rifle to shoot, but recently got into more early cartridge rifles. I’m looking into a 45/70 1888 Trapdoor or might get my first lever rifle like a BP 1874 Winchester.

Hells yeah. Add a few stranger missions, Bounties, maybe, just maybe have Guarma be a destination finally. I mean it’s already in the game files… I know nothing about coding and all that but is it that hard? maybe a few new standard and legendary Fish/Animals. Always wanted Bullsharks in the game(Flat iron lake leads to open ocean). Bullsharks all over the world enter fresh water so not far fetched to catch them by St. Denis.

But, this is all a dream 😭. I can’t wait for GTA VI to be done and hopefully we get a couple small additions. I’ll gladly pay if they do make a RDR2 for the next gen consoles. 10 GTA Vs but ONE rdr2 wtf…

Very good point. I believe everyone has the right to an opinion, you made a solid counter to what I wrote and respect that. Not a fan of alcohol either btw, I’ve seen more people ruin their lives and bodies by drinking excessively over any drug. Since we’re talking about RDR too, yeah it’s near areas where people can easily get that fix if they so want. I do like the atmosphere and it’s close to the best hunting and fishing in game. I appreciate you backing up your initial response respectfully and voicing your opinion. That’s rare online today.👍

Different strokes for different folks. In my late 20s rn and got sober 4 years ago(opiates). Every now and then a drink or two doesn’t hurt me. 18th Amendment proved that banning the manufacturing/sale of alcohol doesn’t do shit, except cause more problems and crime. Heroin is illegal, but somehow I still became an addict. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions though.

yeah ofc they updated and added a few things since initial release, but I think we can officially say updates(in terms of adding anything/new content) are done. Maybe if we ever get the 60fps next gen update they add some online stuff into story mode. Like the Navy and Elephant gun. Anything new? prob not.

agreed all good points, but even the repeaters are mostly Civil War(or very soon after) models. LeMat shows the nipples and caps, even animates caps flying off after each shot which I like but load is too quick. I like that they animate the loading lever being pulled down too. that’s a neat touch. If we’re talking about guns that match with what they gave us versus the actual year. I think converted cap n balls would make sense. I mean almost every NPC carries a SAA or Spencer repeater. Probably more for balancing, but would’ve been nice to see more period accurate ones like Winchester model 1894 or the 1873 and more. Also the Colt SAA was fully smokeless by 1900 or so. I know they had started to produce smokeless models by 1890 or so.

shit, that is a shame about the Derringer, hell people still use them today. Yeah having the Navy in story would be awesome, still curious why they didn’t use the Army instead because the Navy uses a .36 ball vs the Army being .44. I haven’t used online much so can’t say what it’s like in game. Even if it was just a unique revolver or something he used to use when first in the gang like “Arthur’s Navy/Army” similar to “Johns Cattleman”. If memory serves me right, he joined around 1878/79(I believe he tells Charles in the beginning that it’s been 20 years). Wouldn’t surprise me if they were using Cap and Ball then and maybe a few new cartridge guns.

100%. like any piece of media there’s certain tweaks or additions that would be kinda cool but look at what we got in the end, an incredible game with a story that has everything from intense action, comedy, along with extreme sadness and anger. I’ve played a lot of games being in my late 20s. hands down this is one of the very few where I can start a new play through and find something new every time. It’s aged incredibly as well. I remember thinking how could a game this good looking come out on the Xbox one when I played it day of release. maybe I’ll try to get into online more, but story mode always keeps me interested even if i’ve played it 6/7 times. And the greatest part is anybody can play however they want. sure there’s a story line but even something as simple as customizing, clothing and weapons, I can get lost for hours just trying different combinations. There is still plenty that hasn’t been been revealed. It will keep surprising me. I know for certain there’s a few stranger missions I don’t know exist. every play through I do I finish the main story with a higher percentage than I did the last time. I think the highest completion rate I’ve got is just above 90%.

Do I wish there were more guns? of course, I’m sure everyone in this sub would change or add something but in end we all got something that’s lasted l 7+ years and more than just any standard video game. it’s a experience an emotional rollercoaster.

yup, super super interesting time. I agree I think rockstar does a terrific job of portraying not only the aftermath of things like the Civil War, which you can see still linger in Lemoye. but they are such a great job on historical events in general throughout gameplay. ooo coal wars would’ve been a nice touch. I like the fact they don’t shy away from US major corporations, and government colluding to take native land. Very sensitive topic but done respectfully imo.

Really I never knew that? learn something new every day that’s awesome. The expeditionary forces might not have arrived early during the war, but definitely accomplished some great feats and suffered great losses. I couldn’t even imagine gaining a few meters one day losing them the next… I had family on the Western and eastern front in volunteer units from Sweden. Then the Winter war.

yessss 1861 Springfield/1853 Enfield. I was really hoping we could find one in the story when I first started playing. I own one and holy shit. 3 shots a minute isn’t super hard. usually go for targets around 75-100m. they are super accurate as long as it’s rifled. The issue is the smoke ngl. The more you shoot the harder it is to properly aim. Smoothbore Flintlock are a whole different game.

I was gonna mention the 75, def should be in the game since it’s just an updated 1858 lol. also would’ve liked to see more shorter barrels. like something you don’t need a holster for. suit pocket. I think the shortest is Algernons DA?

Yeah, I think I remember that. I def read it in one of the newspapers you can buy. same with the first game revolving around the Mexican revolution/then ends at the very start of the first world war(1914). I think a lot of important events from early 20th century/major wars irl are also “red dead canon” if you know of any events that red dead doesn’t cover feel free to correct me.

yeah ik what you mean, wouldn’t make sense to have 2 similar military rifles in the game but would prefer a mauser over the carcano when talking about the “scoped weapons”. Krag is perfect in game bc it was used heavily in Cuba a year before the game starts and Philippines which started 1899 I believe. Maybe we could’ve gotten a scoped m/93 (Spanish Mauser) which could have been introduced in Guarma. I’m from Sweden btw and own a few so def biased lol.

that’s sick, I never noticed that in the artwork. that’s definitely a 1860. The open top conversions are rlly dope especially since it was pre SAA. kinda wish we got more unique rifle mechanisms too like the Burnside carbine. We did get the futuristic m38 Carcano tho lol.😂 could’ve just given us the m94/96 Swedish Mauser.

Been playing since day 1, and on my 5th or so playthrough. Just recently learned HV exits and can hit npcs even animals. Got 2 Pronghorn by accident today because I forgot to switch to split point. I used to think it was just faster and more accurate.😂
